YEAR 6
DAWN
Dawn is approaching Like a ship sailing in The sun peeps above the horizon Like a jack in the box. But the salmon is twirling Like a child snug in his bed. And the caterpillar it its cocoon, Like a viola in its case And the cat is purring happily, Like a phone vibrating.

Dawn is now here Like a car which has arrived. The moon flies up Like Peter Pan soaring in the air. But the owl hoots Like an old car horn. And the koala is on the tree Like a child holding its toy. And the penguins are sliding down the ice Like a child on its sleigh. And the moles are in their holes Like corks pushed in. Liliana B

24 August 79AD I woke with a start today. The ground was shaking and all the Master’s valuables were clattering together and smashing. It was very strange. Because of this, the Master was in a terrible mood – shouting and ranting all day. He made me walk around the whole house making sure every valuable was secure. When the tiles fell off the roof I was busy waxing the coins for my Master so I got such a fright! Then Matteo, one of the slave boys, came running to me. He said “Quick, Bella, Master would like us to board up the gates and take the valuables to the mainland.” I jumped up and then remembered I hadn’t seen Whiskers all day. He had been in a funny mood. Actually, I hadn’t seen any of the Master’s animals today – how strange. A heavy rock hit me on the leg so I tumbled to my knees. Luckily Matteo caught me and lifted me from under the rock. Thankfully I was just bruised but it was getting more dangerous. I went to warn the Master.
I felt sure we were in trouble because the animals had behaved so strangely (and they always know if there’s something perplexing going on) but my Master wouldn’t hear of it. As I boarded up the gates, I saw many of the villagers and my Master’s friends running towards the seafront. I finally persuaded my Master to pack up and follow the crowd but we were stranded with thousands of others. I looked towards Vesuvius and saw a thick smoky river coming towards us in the mist, the shadows of men and women running towards us. I saw one child gambolling towards the sea but it was too late…

ONE DAY I WOULD LIKE TO…
…travel the world! I would like to do this following in my Father’s footsteps. Why did my Dad travel the world? His Father was an engineer on an Anchor Butter boat and he had the opportunity to take his family along. Dad was about nine when he started travelling. My Grandmother was a teacher so she taught him on the journey. They lived on the boat but when they were docked, they explored the areas. Dad’s favourite country was New Zealand. I would like our family to visit New Zealand too. Our whole family could take a gap year to travel the world on a cruise ship. My education would be covered – older sister (English), older brother (Maths), parents and online school. Why New Zealand? I love the extreme sports such as sky diving, white water rapids and bungee jumping. Another location could be the USA and the Grand Canyon. I would also like to go to Hawaii both for the culture and for hula skirts!
Is this an unrealistic wish, just a dream, or the opportunity of a lifetime? I plan to talk to my Grandma and Dad about their memories. Maybe we could call on her after we come down from Aberystwyth. Mum loves adventures so she could be persuaded. It would be fun as well as educational!

ONE SUMMER MORNING
One summer morning when the sand is blowing in your face The mums are chattering and the boys are playing chase. It is as warm as a volcano.
The dads are splashing like they are elephants The sea is getting warmer as the time goes by. But what’s that sound? It’s the birds flying by.
The children looked like snowmen, With the sun cream down their face. The sand is so hot as you tiptoe across.
But now the summer’s ending and the beach is no more It is sad to watch the time go by, As I sit and watch the shore.

THE MYSTERIOUS FOREST
I woke to the sounds of beautiful humming birds singing an enchanting melody, beneath the wispy white clouds of Enchancia. The coldness from the emerald green leaves splattered across my face and down through the rest of my body. I was shocked to still be lying beneath the huge canopy of treetops which was like a vivid green umbrella. I had visited the magnificent forest of tall trees yesterday, searching for rare animal species with my dog, Bubbles. I had become so tired I had gone to lie down under a spidery knot of trees and bushes. Suspiciously I had not woken up until this morning! I didn’t know what had happened but needed to start heading home with Bubbles. I started on my journey through the forest with Bubbles by my side. In the far away distance something caught my eye. It looked like some greenish mist. I started to get this eerie and spooky sensation! Something in my body told me to take a few more steps, but just at that moment I felt as if someone or something was lurking near me – just out of sight… Chloe D

ANIMATRONIC ANIMAL-ASSISTANT
Do you need help with your everyday work? Well this little dog, designed by Daisy D, will help you in everyday life. The “Robo-dog” is an animatronic dog designed to help you by being a smart companion. The dog has multiple functions like a safe, music player, phone charger and much more!
Eladora, a 15 year old girl said, “I love this invention because it’s so cute!”
Delphina, an elderly lady from Buckinghamshire, says her real dogs will be scared but she is looking forward to getting her Robo-dog. Daisy D (the inventor of this incredible invention) will be at the “Invention Convention 2017” to show off a prototype of the Robo-dog. We think that Robo-dogs will become popular world-wide but what do you think? Post your answer at TotallyNotFakeWebsite@ NewsReport.com Daisy D
T ITANIC DIARY
Me, my Mum, my Dad and my big sister were sat out on the deck. My Mum was stroking my hair, there was a nice breeze and some mist. It was 11.25pm and I couldn’t sleep so my Mum said I could sit with her and my sister. The sea was sparkling in the moonlight. My Dad felt sick so he went to bed. After a while I was getting hungry and a bit sleepy so I went to the restaurant and got an orange. I ate half of it and gave the rest to my sister but she refused to have it so I put it in my cardigan pocket for later. My sister carried me in her arms to the third class bedroom we were staying in. My parents could not afford a better room. My sister laid me down in the bottom bunk – my Dad was in the top. There are two bunk beds in each room but we could only afford one so there were complete strangers sleeping only a metre away from us. There were stains on the walls and it was so small in there that there was not any space for luggage. I watched my Dad reading a book and
“YOUNG VOICES WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.” Kitty S looking annoyed as the people next to him were snoring. That’s when it happened – I heard something and my sister grabbed my hand and held it tight. My Mum came running in screaming about the ship sinking. She took my hand and started to run. My Dad wouldn’t come with us as he said if we have hit an ice-berg we had no chance of escape. Mum pulled my sister and me away. Most people were screaming, some were complaining and some weren’t doing anything – like my Dad. I was crying, so was my sister and Mother. It wasn’t because we thought we were going to die but it was because I knew if Dad came with us we would survive as a family, but hope was lost.
The ship started to sink – faster and faster. All I could think was “We’re not going to make it”. Then I saw the lifeboats. My sister and I ran as fast as we could – my Mum got lost in the crowd. My sister and I jumped into the water and swam as fast as we could. We got onto a boat but it was very crowded and scary. I felt like it was a bad dream and I couldn’t wake up but it wasn’t. Me and my sister watched the boat sink. I reached in to my pocket and found the other half of my orange. It was wet and cold but I had a piece and gave the rest to my sister. I was wet and cold and shaking like mad. My sister looked really sad and was worried that we would die of hyperthermia. We sat there for hours until we finally saw the bright light of a larger boat that had come to rescue us. I was so happy I cried. And that is the real story of what happened on the Titanic.
