On behalf of Pi Pi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. I am extremely delighted to welcome you to our 6th Annual Finer Womanhood Awards Luncheon. This year’s theme “Defining Finer Womanhood” focuses on identifying those special traits that make us “Finer”. From showcasing our artistic talents to raising money for the March of Dimes to save premature babies. From joining with our brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated for fellowship and networking to assisting young mothers during their pregnancies to assure healthy lifestyles. We attempt to put forth the effort to show that we are “Finer” in all that we do. We appreciate your continued support as we recognize “Finer” women and organizations in the Las Vegas community.

Sisterly,

Welcome to the 6th Annual Pi Pi Zeta Finer Womanhood Awards Luncheon!! Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. observes and celebrates Finer Womanhood during the last full week of February and the entire month of March. During this time we reflect on why we joined this magnificent sisterhood and determine how we can better serve our communities and the world at large. Finer Womanhood represents character, integrity and perseverance. We continue to build on our legacy of service by providing more outreach programs through our Elder Care, Stork’s Nest, and Adopt-A-School national initiatives. We strengthen our bonds by hosting more activities that promote sisterly love. We remain committed to awarding more scholarships to our youth through the National Educational Foundation. I extend a special welcome to our National Co-Director of Youth Affiliates Soror Royetta Perry as the keynote speaker for this year’s luncheon. Congratulations to the Sorors of the Pi Pi Zeta Chapter on hosting yet another successful Finer Womanhood Awards Luncheon. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated was founded on January 16, 1920, on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. In our 95 years of existence, the principles established by our five founders; Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings, Fannie Pettie Watts and Pearl Anna Neal of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood are still as near and dear to our hearts today as they were the day we were founded. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc boasts many standout achievements. Along with being the first sorority to charter chapters in Africa, we are the only sorority to be constitutionally bound to a brother organization, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc, who just last year celebrated 100 years of service. It is with great pleasure that Pi Pi Zeta welcomes you to our 6th Annual Finer Womanhood Luncheon. The purpose of this event is to recognize the achievements of those we consider to be “Finer”. Finer in their focus. Finer in their achievements. Finer in their accomplishments and Finer within our communities. With your continued support, we are able to provide incentives and education to the many women in the Las Vegas community who participate in our programs.

ZOL (Zeta Organizational Leadership Program) is a future-focused, nationally structured, intense leadership training certification program and a blue print for leadership development and enhancement. The overarching goal of the ZOL program is to provide members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc with the essential knowledge and skills to be exceptional leaders. Blue Celebrates Pink: Each year we celebrate breast cancer survivors as a part of our dedication to promoting the health of women and our partnership with the American Cancer Society. National Education Foundation, Inc. is created and operated for charitable and educational purposes. The focus of the foundation is to award scholarships and grants to worthy students for the pursuit of higher education; to conduct community educational programs which will aid in the educational and vocational improvement in individuals and community living standards and to engage in activities which will aid in the educational development of all women.

Stork’s Nest Program is designed to promote prenatal care participation and healthy behaviors during pregnancy through two components – incentives and education. The Stork’s Nest clients earn points towards incentives such as maternity or baby items, through a variety of positive, health promoting activities. The Stork’s Nest prenatal education sessions provide information, educational materials and a variety of other resources and referrals that help clients take care of themselves and their babies. Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) is an interactive holistic multidimensional outreach program designed to enhance, cultivate and empower participants to develop health promoting lifestyle choices across the lifespan. Z-HOPE programs have been designed to address the whole person, the mind, body and spirit. The five target areas of Z-HOPE are women, men, youth, seniors and international women of color. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, June 15th kicks off our campaign to distribute information in our communities on identifying signs of elder abuse and where victims can go for assistance. According to Ageless Alliance, 1 out of 10 older adults are victims of abuse. Members throughout the country place informational table tents in restaurants, businesses, churches and libraries all over the country.

The Pearlettes are comprised of girls between the ages of 4-8. The purpose of the Pearlette Program is to assist in the community, academic and personal development of young girls. The Youth Advisors hope that the girls will continue with the youth programs by advancing to the Amicette and Archonette Clubs at the age appropriate time.

Lift every voice and sing, till earth and heaven ring, Ring with the harmonies of Liberty; Let our rejoicing rise, high as the listening skies, Let it resound loud as the rolling sea. Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us, Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us; Facing the rising sun of our new day begun, Let us march on till victory is won.

A Wonderful 6th Annual Finer Womanhood Luncheon!!!

Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod, Felt in the days when hope unborn had died; Yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet Come to the place for which our fathers sighed We have come over a way that with tears has been watered. We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered, Out from the gloomy past, till now we stand at last Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast. God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, Thou who hast brought us thus far on the way; Thou who hast by Thy might, led us into the light, Keep us forever in the path, we pray. Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee, Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee; Shadowed beneath Thy hand, may we forever stand, True to our God, true to our native land.

House by the Side of The Road Award- (Organization of the Year) “House by the Side of the Road”, a poem written by Sam Walter Foss, is the timeless message of hope and optimism inspiring Zetas (and all people) to be of service to others. It’s the expression of being steadfast and unmovable in your calling and to be a true to others no matter where they are in their journey. Simply put, the human race is filled with people who are neither better than nor worse than us, deserving not condemnation, but compassion and camaraderie.

Organizations nominated in this category exemplify the true essence of humanitarianism and are perpetual optimists. Being true champions of change, they meet the needs of others even when challenged by lack of monetary or human capital. By organizing the efforts of those around them, they make a deeper and wider impact in our community.

I am not a woman yet, but I am a young woman in the making of becoming a Finer Woman. Over the three years that I have been a part of the Zeta Archonettes youth group I have learned a lot from the people surrounding me and the sisters I have formed a relationship with.” Upon graduation she plans to attend University of Nevada Las Vegas, where she intends to major in theater.

Founders Award- (Greek Woman of the Year) The Founder’s Award honors women within the Las Vegas Greek Community that exemplify the principles of Scholarship, Sisterhood and Service—ideals our organizations were founded upon. The formation of sororities during the early 1900’s was born from the need to support the academic and professional achievement of women in a very personal way. Throughout history, from Women’s Sufferage to the Lilly Ledbetter Act, these trailblazing women shape our lives, our culture and the opportunities of generations to come. Nominees in this category have not only contributed to the Greater Las Vegas area, but have left a legacy in her organization and its auxiliaries that her founders would be proud of. offers services to the most Finer Woman Award- (Woman of the year) Finer Womanhood is the defining principle that sets Zeta Phi Beta apart from other organizations.
