Discover Travel & Tours has selected 47 of the best examples throughout England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, all offering a warm welcome in historic surroundings for your clients. These properties are available on request, although allocations may be available subject to performance. Pages 20–23 feature a series of self-drive tours based on castle accommodation with full touring itineraries, which include admission to all the major ‘must see’ attractions in each area. Passed through the hands of new ownership for several years, in the early 1950s it was sold to Mr Cyril Lord, a textile millionaire, who refurbished it as a hotel. It is unique in that it is the only 17th century building still used as a residence in Northern Ireland today. All 44 bedrooms combine tasteful contemporary decor with the character of the building. The original period rooms have been sympathetically and cleverly updated to retain the enchanting charm of the original castle.
