Stockport Social Care Parent Survey
You Said...We Did!! What is it? We piloted a telephone survey in August 2012 to gather the views of parents we have worked with.
Why Did We Survey Parents? In order to help us develop the way we work with families we are very interested in seeking the views of parents whose child, or children, have had involvement with our social care service and their experience of working with their allocated social worker.
What did the parents we talked to tell us?
What did the parents we talked to tell us?
We were GOOD at:
We need to IMPROVE on:
• Listening to parents and taking their views into account. • Letting families know what their concerns were and what needed to change to effect positive change in their family. • Gathering the right information about families to understand them. • Helping families with the difficult problems they faced. • Accessing other services for families. • Helping to improve families’ relationships with other services, for instance schools.
• Continuing to help parents with their problems once their social worker has stopped working with them. • Offering help early, before problems get worse and social workers have to work with families. • Making sure all parents know how to make a complaint. • Communicate all assessments and plans with parents and take the time to make sure they understand them.
WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO AS A RESULT OF WHAT YOU TOLD US: • • • • •
The things you told us we were good and need to improve have been shared with our social workers and managers. The issues about of early help will inform our Early Help / Integrated Working workplan. We will monitor if social workers tell parents about complaints and share assessments with parents within our monthly audit process we have just introduced. Some of the parents involved in the survey have participated in our parent focus groups – allowing them to give us detailed feedback on how we can improve our services. Finally...we thought what you told us was really valuable so we have decided to continue this survey with more parents and build upon the feedback you have provided.
Thank-you to all parents who took the time out to participate in our survey, your feedback was valued.
