PASSION ENCAPSULATES THE ESSENCE OF DESIGN.

MONOLITH

CIPOLLINO ONDULATO VERDE

Passion encapsulates the essence of design. At its nucleus, the client. The component particles are the materials and techniques which are respected, admired and developed. The challenge is to create from these elements coherent, individual, functional and beautiful furniture that enthrals and captivates. This, we thrive on.

JUNCTION

The backbone which empowers the articulation of our creativity

STONE, A nativity in chaos, Consumed by extremes of force, Pressure, heat, friction. The patient sleep through aeons, Attrition, chemistry, metamorphosis. Awakened into the beauty only nature could have conceived.

STONE Stone’s elemental nature ensures two pieces are never the same. This unique quality makes everything we create individual: It is this unending possibility that awakens inspiration. Stone assaults the senses, the visual impact is always the first, whether by force or subtle persuasion. Then, a sensation born of mass and presence, a visceral sense that is impossible to place and harder to dismiss. Finally, touch: texture, temperature and detail (natural or imposed) Stone: the expression of nature’s art.

13

VENEER, The single page from an epic tale, A story laid down in chapter rings of seasons past. Evocations of senses: smell, touch, colour and grain, Pathways, contours, hidden images abound To those inspired to look.

VENEER The natural beauty of wood is universal. Its elegant patterns, the touch of its grain, smell and colour. But when you slice it thinly you are presented with a new and added dimension, one which is a challenge: how to best combine individual pieces. Not unlike a jigsaw puzzle, albeit one with no reference picture on a box. To match veneer perfectly takes skill, experience and time; to create a mismatch or a designed pattern can take longer still, yet the results create a uniqueness of finish that brings furniture to life.

17

JUNCTION In its way, everything is connected. Complimentary, harmonious, balanced unity: Diverse, variant, contrasting dissonance. To juxtapose is to create a dialogue, Which speaks to an ultimate beauty. Celebrate this conversation or keep it silent, But it must always be expressed sympathetically.

JUNCTION That we have to join materials together is a necessity which often poses difficulties. We join for practical reasons, to extend, to adhere or juxtapose different materials. Sometimes, however, we join for aesthetic considerations only. Often the join is something overlooked or considered as an aside to the main design concept. For us the join is an essential part, the element that holds and links together the different materials, textures or patterns to form a whole unified construction.

21

Rather than specific aesthetics, materials or styles, our range consists of four fundamental design concepts. Within each of these concepts we conceive and developed a perfect solution that taste, space, and emotion dictate. Whilst experience has developed these ranges to match particular materials or designs, there exists a desire to realise innovative, new products. The furniture shown in this brochure is merely the starting point. The destination is the realisation of the client’s desires.

“ A problem is but a batted eyelid to the millennium of ingenuity garnered from a solution. “

A key element of design is scale. Vinculum was conceived to be unrestricted by dimensions of the natural materials employed, creating a system of joining these materials that would preserve the inherent beauty of them without trying to cheat the eye. The solution, to make the joint a feature, a demarcation of dimension which materials would naturally fit. The essence of Vinculum is to allow freedom of dimension and material.

Vinculum highlights the junction between surfaces. By making a feature of the join we are free to scale both horizontally and vertically.

“ No definition of presence can come close to the reverence of experiencing it. “ The natural beauty of stone is always something we respect and cherish. Monolith was designed to present a solid piece of stone as a kitchen island. The combination of mitred edges, full stone fronted drawers, a narrow plinth and careful bookmatching allowed us to create this overall effect. Monolith was envisaged in stone, but the techniques we employ work equally as well with wood, veneer, lacquer or back painted glass.

Monolith is conceived as one solid piece of stone or wood. To enable this the edges of all surfaces are mitred which makes visible gaps between surfaces as small as they can be,

“ A sensitivity of scale anchors the harmonious balance of form. “

The diversity of natural and man-made materials available to us today offer rich and near limitless creative opportunities. The challenge is to combine these aesthetically and sympathetically to ensure an effective and holistic design concept. 12mm achieves this through the use of a common dimension, establishing a homogeneous dialogue which runs throughout the whole design.

“ Elegance which appears effortless is the essence of fastidious design.

The concept of Line was a range underpinned by clean, uncluttered and elegant design. Lacquered finishes with natural stone or glass surfaces accentuate this ethos. To create such outward simplicity has taken ingenuity of design and construction which make Line both understated and timelessly beautiful in form and function.
