A walk down Via Solferino in Milano, Italy might lead one to pass by an unassuming restaurant front with a quaint, yet traditional dining space that effuses classic Italian modernism. Within Pisacco, sage green seating await under the white vaulted ceiling, and small rustic elements such as leaning wooden ladders to hold the dinnerware promote a relaxed atmosphere.
The space, designed by architect Tiziano Vudafieri, is a restoration piece that highlights sustainability through not the interior forms but also the secret garden underground. Fresh produce goes into Chef Andrea Berton’s creations and sophisticated menu, which features classic Italian dishes with a twist of finesse.
The fresh and bright cuisine takes a daring turn up the stairs to the second floor of Pisacco. There, a painted mural – almost as if it were in mid-doodle – captures the eye with wispy sketches and a bold, fluorescent X that also inhabits the wall. This work from artist Gabriella Ciancimino matches the more avant-garde, contemporary ambience of the upstairs. Other works from artists are featured in the same space, which only adds to the theme of collaborative design, from all walks of art, throughout the restaurant.
