“Hey Sid, I want to say congrats on your 1,000 points. It is a huge number. We both know that 999 (of those) points is because of my help. I have enjoyed playing with you. Every game, every night is so fun. Everyone knows that you are the best player.” – EVGENI MALKIN “Sid, congrats on 1,000 points. It was great playing with you. You are the most dedicated and hard working player I’ve played with.” – SERGEI GONCHAR “It’s pretty neat, you get a chance to play with him and you knew he was something special right away and is a great person. He comes in and he brings you energy when you get a young guy like that. To see him get his first couple, the assist, the goal, it’s pretty neat to be part of that.” - MARK RECCHI “I remember in my first game, in Florida, just remembering passes coming to me that other people just couldn’t make. So you had to be ready at all times. He can just do things that other guys couldn’t. And I’ve played with some pretty good centers in my day.” -BILL GUERIN “Right now, Crosby is the best player, and you have to earn your stripes. Until somebody knocks him off the castle, that’s the way it’s going to be. He won two Stanley Cups and two gold medals, and he’s handled pressure and handled everything with grace and dignity, and he deserves all the accolades he’s getting.” -WAYNE GRETZKY “Sid’s great. We started at the same time. Obviously, I think if he was not injured he would have passed it a little bit earlier. But a thousand points, when you reach that milestone, it’s really good.” - ALEX OVECHKIN “He’s the best player in the world, by far. Just what he does, it’s really unbelievable. This guy finds a way to produce every night. Score goals, create plays, even when he doesn’t get points he’s still creating so much offense. His defensive game is really good as well. So he’s an all-around player and he’s definitely the best player in the world.” - CONNOR MCDAVID “The way he played all season last year and in the playoffs, winning the Cup and showing up and pretty much dominating the World Cup tournament, he’s just been on fire ever since. Whenever you think he’s kind of reached his ceiling, he just finds another level and just keeps pushing.” - JONATHAN TOEWS
