Adding a stunning visual element to the concert experience, the talented cast of Cirque de la Symphonie provide a three-dimensional entertainment extravaganza. Fusing the power and majesty of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra with the best of cirque artistry — including aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, jugglers, balancers and strongmen — Cirque de la Symphonie creates perfectly choreographed spectacles set to classical masterpieces, raising cirque artistry to a fine arts level. Musical fireworks join with the incredible feats of the human body for a jaw-dropping day of entertainment on (and high above) the Heinz Hall stage!

Make a gift to the Pittsburgh Symphony’s Annual Fund Would it surprise you to know that each year the Pittsburgh Symphony dedicates $3 million in resources to educational and community engagement programming, most of which is offered free of charge? These programs, including Fiddlesticks, introduce thousands of children annually to orchestral music, help support music programs in our schools and bring comfort to the sick through our Music & Wellness program. None of this is possible without your support. Please consider making a gift to the Symphony’s Annual Fund with your ticket purchase. For more information, contact the Pittsburgh Symphony’s Development Department at 412.392.4880 or visit pittsburghsymphony.org/give.

Introduce your children to the world of music! The Fiddlesticks Family Concert series includes three Saturday morning concerts designed and recommended for families with children ages three through eight. Each concert features a different theme engaging children in the world of music. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Fiddlesticks, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s musical ambassador to children, guide you through these musical explorations. And, at every concert, guest vocalist Katy Williams leads the audience in Fiddlesticks’ favorite song — “Music Can Make Your Life Complete!” Performances begin at 11:15 a.m. and are approximately 45 minutes in length. Come at 10 a.m. for Discovery Time Adventures, where children may explore music through activities throughout Heinz Hall.

One of the most versatile and exhilarating musical instruments is the human voice. At this kick-off to the 2015-2016 season, Fiddlesticks and friends celebrate singing in all its many forms — from the razzle-dazzle of Broadway to the drama of opera…and everything in between! Lift your spirits (and your voice) with “Do-Re-Mi” from The Sound of Music, selections from Annie, Mozart’s The Magic Flute and many more!

Music and dance go hand-in-hand, and this concert will make you twist, stomp and spin! You won’t be able to keep your toes from tapping as Fiddlesticks and dancers from the area’s best dance programs join with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to move to music from Piazzola’s Tango and Tchaikovsky’s Waltz from Sleeping Beauty, along with many others. Be sure to wear your dancing shoes to this one!

Fiddlesticks is all about the fun that musical play can bring — whether you’re playing an instrument, creating or improvising music, playing with sound or playing games on the playground! Hear some of our favorite music by Pittsburgh-born Henry Mancini, sing along to Take Me Out to the Ball Game and much more. Musical play can be playfully fun and Fiddlesticks will show you how!
