A MESSAGE FROM TERRE BLAIR HAMLISCH Marvin Hamlisch loved Pittsburgh—words cannot express the meaningful and profound impact the city had on his life. He loved the people of Pittsburgh, the city of Pittsburgh and most of all, the extraordinary musicians, staff and audiences of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Pittsburgh was his second home, and joy filled his heart on that podium in Heinz Hall. The audiences and musicians were his family, the deepest connection of all for him. He often spoke, “I will never, ever give up Pittsburgh. If I had to choose just one orchestra, I choose the PSO.” He knew the quality of the music was the best, and he had high standards! He also greatly adored the heart of the city: its people, Pittsburgh gave back. Whether he was throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game, dancing on early morning TV, or elated from a thrilling rehearsal—he was the happiest in Pittsburgh with the PSO. Marvin Hamlisch's spirit lives on in Pittsburgh, in Heinz Hall, in the notes of the musicians and in the hearts of the people of Pittsburgh. Thank you for never forgetting! With much appreciation, Terre Blair Hamlisch
