26th & 27th SEPTEMBER
HARNESSING POTENTIAL MINING INVESTMENT IN EASTERN AFRICA. The Mining Business and Investment (MBI) has attracted more than 2000 delegates and over 300 companies from all around the world. MBI East Africa now includes the entire eastern African region, with South Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Sudan as well as Uganda and Kenya. MBI eastern Africa is the only official event for the eastern Africa region. The event will be hosted in Nairobi Kenya under the patronage of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Kenya. Eastern Africa is without doubt the most exciting play in the world right now and the MBI eastern Africa summit will give your company the very latest information, the most-up-to-date business opportunities and most importantly the chance to network with all the people who will have direct influence over decision making for the region. The summit will take place at the Laico Hotel on the 26th and 27th of September 2013. The strategic conference, led by the Ministry and experts from the mining industry, will unite investors and industry experts to share their knowledge and explore current challenges and investment opportunities in the region. This year the programme has been designed to inform the audience with national performance and regulatory frames on a national remit in the industry on day one. And on day two the programme will focus its attention on the exploration and mining companies to spring their case studies to an audience of calibre industry professionals.

Historically, the attention for mining and exploration of its vast natural resources has been mainly focused on South Africa, Ghana and Congo. Understandably so, because there the development started in early times because exciting findings prompted it. However, with the prices of metals having come to substantially higher levels than ever before, the search for metals and minerals has expanded, in fact spread to almost all over the African continent. After the successful coming to production and development of new mines in what are called the new mining countries, such as Mali, Tanzania, Algeria, Egypt, Eritrea, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, the attention is spreading further and one of the most recent and very interesting parts of Africa that is being ‘discovered’ is Eastern Africa, a vast area comprising the countries of Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.
