Firstly let me introduce myself, my name is Melvin Nicholson and I am a member of Preston Photographic Society and I have an opportunity that might just interest you.
After creating three very successful weekend workshops for the members of Preston PS, all led by arguably one of the country’s finest professional fine art landscape photographers around Paul Gallagher, we have created four more four day workshops and wish to extend them to members of other photographic clubs and societies. Paul Gallagher has over 26 years experience in his field as well being a very experienced workshop leader and tutor. He also manages his own workshop company Aspect2i as well as running the Epson Print Academy. We require just eight people per workshop to join us for three nights and four days in Glencoe, Scotland. There are four dates to choose from between late September and late November. The price has been set at a recession busting £350 and that includes three nights accommodation (no single supplement), transport from Preston to Glencoe and back as well as all transfers on location and professional one on one tuition from Paul. These workshops normally cost well over double what we’re charging but Paul has a real desire to assist those who have joined a photography club or society as he has seen first hand the positive experiences with those who attended from Preston PS.
These four day landscape photography workshops have been specially created to give you the very best opportunity to capture on camera the breathtaking scenery that is on offer in and around the area of Glencoe and Rannoch Moor and to help you create images and memories that will last a lifetime. All photography takes place entirely on location giving you the opportunity to capture the stunning scenery of Buachaille Etive Mor, Glen Orchy, Glen Etive, the grandeur of Rannoch Moor amongst many other places of beauty. Paul will offer tailored and expert one to one tuition to everybody from the beginner to the advanced photographer, from a digital DSLR to medium and large format cameras. However it is not just your photography that we want to help improve, we also want you to really enjoy the trip, witness some stunning scenery, meet some great people and have a fantastic time. After all, photography is meant to be fun!

Exhibitions
Blackburn & District Camera Club Annual Exhibition
The Annual Exhibition is now up at Radio Lancashire. After five hours of sweat and tears most photos are now firmly (?) fixed to the walls. There were the usual frustrations – the screw system worked better than the clips used last year, but it was still slow and fiddly. We ran out of time and people at 2.30 pm and more time could be spent on straightening photos. There is also a small amount of space on the display boards which could be filled. Thanks to Richard, John Murray, Ken, Malc and Mick Park ( in his lunch time). Jim Cunningham President
Steward Ellett
Now has a permanent exhibition room at Salmesbury Hall, Salmesbury showing a variety of his work from Wildlife, Landscape, Cityscape and Abstract Photography. It is open 11am 4pm everyday except Saturdays.
We hope that by producing Pixel Xtra we introduce you not only to the activities provided by the club but also to other opportunities to get out and about to take photographs or to see exhibitions or listen to interesting speakers. However we can only do this if we know what is going on outside the club.
We need input from you to keep Pixel Xtra and the calendar up足 todate.
If you learn of anything which might be of interest to other members whether it be somewhere to go or something to see please let us know. For general events and photo opportunities please email the details to our events coordinator Steward Ellett. wildprophotos@yahoo.co.uk
For other stuff please e足mail it to me secretary@blackburncameraclub.co.uk
Cover images
I am sure that there is someone out there who would like to have their image on the cover and if you would send me an image you have every chance of it being used next week. The image should be about 1500 pixels wide. Pixel Xtra is landscape format and therefore landscape images are preferred you will also note that type is placed to the bottom right足hand corner so please take that into account when choosing the photograph.
