Committee Meeting 11 July

This is the midpoint of the year and your committee will be meeting soon to decide on the programme for next year and make plans for the further development of your club.

If you would like anything to be put on our agenda please write to me secretary@blackburncameraclub.co.uk and I will ensure that it is considered at our meeting.

This is a final call

In every organisation there are people who mutter "they" should do this or that. Well if you ever mutter this is your chance to be heard.

Email me ASAP and what you say will be considered by your committee

Communications These are fast changing times.

A short while ago we relied on announcements at meetings to communicate with you our membership.

Now we have our website which is now established in its new home www.blackburncameraclub.co.uk and our club forum which is used by some but not all our members. Other clubs have different means of communication. They use Facebook, Flickr, Google+ etc.

Our forum is quite active but there are less than 1/2 a dozen regular users out of a membership of more than 50. Would you prefer it if we were to make more use of facebook? We do have a facebook page but very few members post to it.

L&CPU News Hi Folks,

Can we just remind you that the L&CPU Exhibition at Manchester Cathedral contines until a week on Sunday 15th July, so there are two weekends left for you all to visit. There is a list of prints available from the L&CPU website Front page or Events page. Possibly the best PDI show in the country is the PAGB InterClub PDI Championships at Warwick a week on Saturday, 14th July. Tickets this year have been only £5, half the usual price but there are some left if you would like to go. We have three L&CPU clubs taking part; Wigan 10, Chorley PS and North Cheshire PS.

The theatre is a great venue, tiered so you get a superb view of the beautifully projected images. Order via the Events page. You can find information about these items and new items added from (www.lcpu.org) Regards, (and enjoy the lovely weather!!) John Royle

Photo Opportunity As part of the Guild Celebrations Preston City Councl are running some free events. The walks will be lead by a very good local photographer

The website is at http://www.prestonphotowalks.blogspot.co.uk/ For times and dates please register at prestonphotowalk@gmail.com

Starting from the summer of 2012, we are looking to help photographers get social around the city of Preston in Lancashire, UK. These photowalks will be fun, for everyone, and free. If you have a compact, DSLR or large format camera, come along. We don't care what you shoot with as long as you are friendly, considerate and not going to bore everyone with your latest ( very expensive ) lens! These photowalks will be an opportunity for like minded photography enthusiasts, ( professional, amateur or novice ), to meet up and wander around safely in numbers. A few members went on the 1st walk round the docks area and gave good reports. Please register interest either by email prestonphotowalk@gmail.com

There is also a flickr group where images can be shared after each walk for us all to look at and post constructive comments.

These walks are not designed to compete or step on the toes of local camera clubs and all the good work that they do, this is an addition to those groups in a city which we are sure can cater for more!

Pixel Magazine We're all going on a summer holiday

Pixel is growing up. It now has a wide following and we think this month's issue will be the best yet.

Its too late to get your work featured in this months edition but now you have 3 weeks before the next deadline so lets see what you have got. The theme next month is Travel & Holidays so if you have any photos for us or ideas about what to pack, hints or tips send them in.

If you have a question let us have it and we may be able to feature it and possibly an answer as well. We are always looking for ways to improve the magazine and welcome submissions and suggestions or requests.

You can speak to Lee or me at any meeting or contact the magazine via the following links. Facebook Email
