Dave McAughtrie 1984-85 1990-92

Apps: 31 I Goals: 1 Apps: 49 I Goals: 0 Ayr born defender Dave McAughtrie started out with Ayr Boys Club but then moved to England to play with top tier Stoke City from 1980-84 making 59 appearances for the Potters. He then moved down a Division to join Carlisle United in 1984 where he turned out 31 times for the Cumbrians. His next port of call was the Third Division York City where he played 80 games between 1985-87. He then signed for Darlington in the Fourth Division and played 80 games for the Quakers between 1987-89. He then played for Northwich Victoria and Bishop Auckland from where he signed for Town in 1990 making his debut on 12 January 1991 in the 0-0 draw at home to Irlam Town in the NPL Division One Cup. In two seasons at Wetherby Road, he made 49 appearances for Harrogate before moving to Goole Town.

Jonny Allan 2000-02 2011-13

Apps: 32 I Goals: 2 Apps: 20 (25) I Goals: 7 Penrith born striker Jonny Allan began his career as a youth team player at Carlisle United and went on to play 32 games for the first team in the old Division Three between 2000-02 before moving on to Northwich Victoria. In two spells at Northwich he amassed over 200 appearances and scored 75 goals and was top scorer when they won the Conference North Division title 2006. In between, Allan spent a brief period at Halifax Town at the end of the 2003–04. In 2010 he moved to Gateshead from where he signed for Town in the Conference North in May 2011 making his debut as a substitute in a 1-1 draw at Frickley Athletic in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round. He scored his first goal at Worcester City on his full debut and moved on in 2013 to join Celtic Nation FC.

Mark Beck 2012-15

Apps: 79 (37) I Goals: 29 Current Town striker Mark Beck started his youth career in Carlisle United’s academy between 2010-12 and signed his first pro contract with the club in 2012. He went on to play 77 games in League One and Two for the Blues. Whilst there, he had loan spells at Workington and Falkirk before joining Yeovil Town in July 2015. In January 2016, Beck joined Wrexham on loan until the end of the season before signing for Darlington in August 2016 scoring 19 times in 57 games for the Quakers. Beck signed for Town in November 2017 making his debut that December in a 3-2 defeat at FC United of Manchester and has since been a key part in Town’s recent successes making well over 100 appearances in all competitions.

Paul Thirlwell 2006-15 2015-17 (as player)

Apps: 228 I Goals: 7 Apps: 30 (5) I Goals: 1 Current Town Assistant Manager, Paul Thirlwell totalled just under 400 Premier and Football League career appearances including nine years at Carlisle United before joining Town in 2015. The midfielder began his senior career with Sunderland in 1997 and after their promotion as Champions to the Premier League made his top flight debut in December 1999 in a 4-1 home victory over Chelsea. In seven years at the Stadium of Light he made a total of 92 appearances for the Black Cats including a stint as skipper but a horrific injury where he suffered a fractured skull in April 2004, brought his Sunderland career to a premature end. He joined Sheffield United on a free in July 2004 where he played 36 games before moving to Derby County the following summer making 23 appearances for the Rams. Thirlwell initially joined Carlisle United on a short-term loan deal in September 2006, before making the move permanent in January 2007 and was made captain that July. He went on to make 228 league appearances for the Cumbrians in nine-years at Blundell Park and was interim player/manager in 2014. In May 2009 he scored the second goal in Carlisle’s 2-0 final day victory over Millwall, a win which meant they avoided relegation to League Two. He signed for Town in May 2015, becoming captain and making his debut in the opening day 1-0 defeat at Brackley Town. The following season Thirlwell became player/assistant manager as well as coaching the Under 21s before hanging up his boots and taking the Assistant Manager’s job permanently in January 2017. In total he made 35 appearances for

Town scoring once, plus also has one England Under 21 cap to his name.
