Our 32 Annual Gala Event A Letter From the Swift President
W
elcome to the 32nd Annual Swift Gala
Auction and Art Gallery. On behalf of Swift, I want to thank you for attending this evening’s “Red Carpet Affair” and for the “starring role” you serve in our community by supporting Swift. Our goals this evening are to raise funds for our community and to have fun. We have arranged for an entertaining evening that captures the fun and excitement of Hollywood, and we hope you enjoy the night.
For the last three decades, Swift has been known for its broad-based support, through grants, of all non-profit organizations--from the arts, to education, to social services, and everything in between. Our most significant source of fundraising for the year is tonight’s auction, and the generous donations you make tonight will go back out to Southwest Washington in the form of grants. I and the other current members of Swift

are just temporary stewards for this wonderful organization. Without your generosity and sense of community, Swift could not accomplish all that it does to make the lives of so many people here in Southwest Washington better. I would like to give the award for “Best Supporting Role” to our title sponsor for tonight’s event, Bank of Clark County. Our thanks to Mike Worthy and everyone at Bank of Clark County for their generous support of Swift. In closing, please enjoy yourselves and thank you for supporting Swift and our Community.

A Red Carpet Welcome
From the Chairperson, Swift GalaPlanningCommittee elcome, everyone, to the 2007 Swift Gala Premier! It is my honor to spend the evening with each of you community members who have generously filled at least one of the various supporting roles necessary in order to create an event of this kind. Members. Sponsors. Donors. Guests. Event volunteers. There are numerous facets to this production that Swift affectionately refers to as The Gala. With your help, Swift has successfully set the stage for our 32nd Annual Event.
W
I would personally like to thank the Hilton Hotel and Convention Center for providing such a wonderful venue, along with Michael Lampson of Lasting Impressions Ltd for his role in transforming this location into Vancouver’s own Red Carpet Premier. The elaborate theme for our 2007 event evolved on it’s own, and is a perfect example of accidental genius. When we began planning for this evening last April, our original thought and direction began with a very simple list titled KEY PLAYERS. We began jotting down each piece of the puzzle, and within a few moments, we had included everyone from our title sponsor, Bank of Clark County, to potential sponsors, past sponsors, donors, guests, members, volunteers and event vendors. The page had become something that resembled a movie cast before our very eyes. So, we changed the title of our list, and a theme for our 2007 event was born. One of the longest running charity auctions in Southwest Washington, the Gala serves many purposes for Swift. Not only is it our largest annual fundraising event, but it is also an evening that provides us with the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate a community that has faithfully supported Swift since 1975. Your award winning generosity and volunteer efforts have allowed Swift to donate more than $4 million to over 1,200 worthy community projects. Swift and the organizations that it has been fortunate enough to touch over the past 32 years are so very grateful for this community’s ever-present capacity to give. We applaud you this evening, all of the sponsors, donors, volunteers and community members who faithfully support. It is Swift’s mission of meeting needs, fulfilling dreams and inspiring hope through grants.
I wish to thank everyone who has accepted a place on the Red Carpet tonight! It is Swift’s pleasure to honor you with an evening of glitz, glamour and giving.

IRS Disclosure Southwest Washington Independent Forward Thrust (Swift) has been granted not-for-profit status under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Accordingly, contributions made to Swift are deductible for federal income tax purposes subject to the following: • A receipt from the charitable organization must support all contributions. • The excess of the amount paid for the item(s) over the fair market value also limits such deduction, in as much as Swift has no way of independently evaluating the fair market value of individual items. Swift must rely solely on the value assigned by the donor. This is a good faith estimate by Swift and may not reflect “fair market value”. In addition, the IRS allows a deduction for the portion of your ticket price that exceeds the value of the meal. Accordingly, Swift thanks you for tonight’s donation of $100. We encourage you to consult your tax advisor regarding any contributions made to the Swift organization. Swift Tax ID Number is 91-0956986.

Finally I realized he didn’t want slippers. He wanted to see more of me, us, the kids. For me to help him with the crossword. For the kids to draw him dinosaurs. So this year, no slippers.
