Bringing Photos to Life My son recently graduated from University. I had shared the wonderful photos of the event online (with lots of likes!) and was travelling to visit my Aunt and Uncle, who are in their 80s and don't have a computer or mobile devices. My Aunt is an avid album keeper, so I printed the best of the photos to take to her. They were stunning. I showed them to the photographer who took them, and she was very moved to see how good her work looked - she doesn't normally print. My Aunt was delighted, and every family member who dropped by wanted to see the photos. I doubt they would have been as enthusiastic to look at the 100 photos on my phone. This reinforced to me the value of sharing printed photos.

In the digital age, sharing our photos has become both easier and harder. We are taking more pictures than ever before. We can quickly share new photos on Social Media, hoping our loved ones see the post. We don't have to drop off photos to be developed, get multiple copies made, and mail them to family. But with the convenience of instant sharing comes new problems. Social Media platforms reduce the size and resolution of our photos. If Grandma wants to print that great photo of her new grandbaby you shared on Facebook, she may find that the picture is grainy and blurry, because the resolution is poor. Online privacy is becoming more and more important. If you need to find a specific photo, the sheer volume of photos we take now makes this very overwhelming. And in this age of minimalism and de cluttering, no one wants more stacks of printed photos. The solution? Start a tradition of sharing your photos with Photo Calendars. Digital calendars are easy to create, reasonably priced, practical, and a gift that is always well received. I have been making calendars for family who live far away for many years - first paper ones with printed photos, and now digital calendars.
7 Easy steps to creating a Photo Calendar 1. Decide on the subject for your calendar - here are some suggestions:
·Year in Review - pick 4 or 5 of your best photos per month. Tip: Use your photo organizing app to mark your best photos (only a few) each month, and you won't have to sort through a year's worth of photos to make your calendar. This is easy to do with the Forever® App. ·Family Highlights - choose a theme such as vacations, kid's activities, hobbies, pets, and make a calendar that highlight these photos. Tip: Use your photo organizing app to tag or create an album of the best theme photos each month, so you don't have to look through a year's worth of photos.
caPe cod
·Scenic Photos - if you are a hobby
photographer and take great pictures, showcase your photos in a calendar. Tip: For dramatic effect, use only one photo per month. This also makes creating this calendar a snap!

·Vintage Calendar - bring your old
family photos back to life by scanning them and putting the best in a calendar - this is a bit more work, but the calendars I have created with old photos have been treasured by the recipients. If you need help with the scanning, Forever® offers media conversion service. The possibilities are endless, but here are some ideas for calendars I have created from scanned old photos: A Veteran's Military Service, Family Ancestors, Holiday Celebrations through the years, family vacations or trips to the cottage, to name a few. I recently created a calendar for my Mother-in-Law with photos of her grandchildren (all adults now)

Photo Calendars: Bringing Photos to Life 2. Choose an online or software program to create your Calendar. I use ArtisanÂŽ
,.
by ForeverÂŽ. Forever also offers an online Design & Print service, with lots of calendar options to speed up the process. Tip: Take advantage of pre-designed calendar templates for fast and easy design. I have used heritage templates and created calendars that look like old drug store photos or newspapers. 3. Select your Photos. Tip: If the program you are using doesn't allow for editing, edit your photos before you place them in your calendar. 4. Add Photos to your chosen layout. Tip: Choose the number

"
of photos per month based on the size of the calendar. Control the temptation to add too many photos to each month. Don't reduce the size of photos to get more on the page. The most visually pleasing calendar will have 1 to 4 photos each month.
5. Include stories on your calendars - whatever information you can find or
remember about the photos will enrich the photos and make the calendars even more of a treasured gift - particularly if using old photos. Tip: If making a calendar of family ancestors, include a family tree for reference. 6. Customize your calendar by adding holidays, events and family birthdays, if your
software allows this. Some programs will let you add pictures to specific days on the calendar.
7. Upload and order your calendar. Tip: Use the preview mode of your software to see what the finished project looks like. Make any corrections necessary.
One of the best parts about making digital calendars is you can create one and order multiple copies for family and friends. And make sure you get one for yourself! The h0l1day s'e'ason is a ong us and we are preparing to spend time with our friends and famil J' •\ e are preparing to relive time-honored traditions big and small. While traditions can vary greatly, there is one thing that all traditions have in common - the ability to m ke you and others feel good. Traditions remind you of good times and let you relive and recreate great memories. How will you be spending your holiday season? What traditions do you have?
.
Some of the Pixie Power Committee members wanted to share their favorite traditions with you.
One of my favorite family holiday traditions was started by my mom many, many years ago. On a family vacation to Hawaii (a big deal for us back in the early 1980s) we purchased a tree ornament of a Hawaiian lady, made from a seed pod native to Hawaii. At that point, we had old ball ornaments for our tree. That single ornament purchased 40 years ago, started a tradition that I have carried on with my family and my now adult children. It has spread to other family members, with annual gifts of special ornaments. We now have an entire tree decorated with special ornaments that remind us of all those special trips, events and those who gifted them to us. A couple years ago, one of my Aunts passed away shortly after Christmas. The following year, I knew how hard it would be to celebrate the season near the anniversary of her passing. I made '1111•1\ ornaments for her children, with a photo of her on one side and the whole family on the other. I gave them with a note to reinforce that she will always be with us, and the ornament was a reminder of that. This year, I created another ornament with photos of my dear cousin who passed away in / February. It will take its place on the tree with all the !"""'-•--..,..---other special ornaments. ---.....11111!..•,..••
We always make sure to get a family photo every year. They used to be the traditional "everyone stand in front of the tree" shots. For the last four years we've had a theme. This was from last year. We're now working on what we will do this year. Should be fun!!

For as long as I have known my husband's farr:i' y I have had buckshots at their house at Christmas time. You may have• heard of buckeyes, or peanut butter balls, but this family version of the recipe is called "buckshots,. - at least by his • family! •
I can't remember exactly when, but definitely once we were married 26 years ago, I got the recipe from my mother-in-law and tried to make the treats that my husband loves the most at the holidays (and any time of year for that matte0. My mother gave me a double boiler that she had, and suggested .:(U!-· J-;L,.e, using a large safety pin opened wide for the dipping. Over the years when I have brought buckshots into school, some coworkers have asked me for the recipe, then tell me that they cannot make them like I do. I have even had a couple say they aren't going to bother, they will just wait for mine. Two .,_ years ago this gave me the idea to make a video showing some of the things that I do that may make a difference in the finished product. I have finally made that video. My daughter did the taping and editing, uploaded it to my Forever account, and made a QR code that links to it when you scan the code with your phone's camera or a QR reader. I typed the recipe and added it to my FOREVER account, then linked it to a QR code. If nothing else, I hope that the video will be something that, even though it pains me to watch, my children and some day their children, will enjoy watching.

My kids used to love helping me with Christmas baking and we always played Kings College Choir carols whilst busy in the kitchen. In fact they liked just sitting on the kitchen bench watching and feeling Christmassy. They indulged me with the classical music for a while and then we moved on to the fun ones like Snoopy's Christmas. There was always Scottish shortbread cut into festive shapes, gingerbread men, chocolate truffles, mince pies, stained glass cake, cherry / chocolate bake, etc from recipes that we have used for years. ........ Now that the kids are far away, I don't bake quite so much, ('l::-:-r oth:erwise I would just eat it all!! We also have a tradition of collecting Christmas o n {Pents - and have many from our travels, as well as ones that the kids made when they were little at school. Every year when the tree goes up, I put the knitted Santas that my mum made for the kids years ago under the tree. I have pages that I have made of the baking and a record of the ornaments.

tltePPC For this issue of Pages, we couldn't just focus on one fan, we needed to focus on an entire committee. This committee is an incredible force behind everything created by the pixels2Pages Team. What is the PPC? PPC stands for the Pixie Power Committee. Who is the PPC? The Pixie Power Committee consists of 30 women from all over the world. These women love using Artisan software and are pixels2Pages members. They love the pixels2Pages community and decided to volunteer their time to help the Pixies (pixels2Pages Team) make all offerings the best they can be. These women are at all different levels of expertise, from novice to expert. They also have a very different scrapbooking styles - from clean and classic to highly elaborate and everything in between. Why do we need the PPC? The pixels2Pages Team is much smaller than it was in the past. One thing that pixels2Pages has prided itself on is the diversity of offerings. To continue to have diversity in our offerings, we need diversity in the feedback we receive. The PPC provides new perspective and fresh eyes on all offerings. Why we are grateful for the PPC? A lot of effort goes into every pixels2Pages offering. While a 3 minute video may seem effortless, many hours go in to creating that short video. The technique needs to be decided, tested, and worked out so that it is as simple as can be. Next, sample pages and website images must be created, the video visual must be recorded, the video audio must be recorded, the audio and visual must be synced together, the video tracks must be edited, and the video must be published. But that is not all. The video post must be created, the video notes must be written, and related offerings must be chosen. There are so many little things that we have failed to mention, but in the midst of all of this, there is quality control. Are our instructions accurate? Do they make sense to others? Are they the simplest instructions we could give? Is there an easier way? Are there typos? Are we using the correct terminology? The list goes on and on and on. Needless to say, the pixels2Pages team can not do it alone. The PPC jumps in and takes command of quality control giving the feedback we need (sometimes on very little notice). Their volunteer works give the pixels2Pages Team extremely valuable time to complete offerings. On the pages that follow, each PPC member will introduce herself using a page that she has created.
Credits for the layouts shown on the following pages will be made available in the FOREVER Collaborative album. CLICK HERE to access the album with the individual images.

My name is Madelyn and I live in Lindon, Utah. I've been married to the love of my life, David, for over 35 years. We have a daughter, two sons, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law and FOUR grandchildren! We're also blessed that my mother lives with us.
I love tech. I know it won't solve all the world's problems, but it sure does make live easier. I use Artisan's arrange tools almost everyday and I never, ever tire that I can have a perfect layout every single time. And I can choose any font and correct misspelled words in seconds. Who wouldn't want that in their life?
I was born in California, and when I was a baby, we moved to Michigan and lived there until I was a young teenager and then we moved to Utah. I went to Brigham Young University and graduated in Information Systems.
It began with teaching spreadsheets and word processing back when I was barely 20 years old. People were just starting to buy personal computers and many years later, when I saw my first laptop, I never thought I'd own one. I'm probably on my tenth laptop now. Incredible what you can do with these small machines. Someday I hope to thank Bill and Melinda Gates in person.
While in school, my job was to work with computers at a hospital. Then we moved to California where I taught word processing. We moved back to Utah were I worked for a computer firm and traveled around the country installing computer systems for Credit Unions and continued teaching office programs. I didn't want the long hours of the corporate world anymore and wanted to be home with my two little children so I started a home-based business with Creative Memories and have been working from home ever since. After CM, I started my own digital scrapbooking company and then joined Forever in September 2015 where I'm a Senior Executive Ambassador. I love running, hiking, cleaning, cooking, scrapbooking, organizing, planning, visiting, napping, biking, reading, teaching tech, and serving in my Church. My husband and I love to dance and to go camping. Our greatest joy is the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ, our children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
I've always loved scrapbooking and had a successful business starting in 1991, and then when scrapbooking and computers came together, my world would never be the same. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have a job that I love so very much in helping people share their life and memories through stories, books, and cloud storage. I'm a founding leader with FOREVER and enjoy sharing all our products with my clients. I love sharing the power of FOREVER.com, Historian, Artisan and pixels2Pages. I so appreciate the support, ideas and passion we receive from Tameka, Jan, Anne, Kim and others with p2P as well as Home Office. I have a wonderful upline, sideline and an incredible team. I am surrounded by amazing women (and a few good men) who help me be a better person. I'm so very grateful for my fabulous clients. They have become my dearest friends and my life is enriched by them every single day.

My name is Julie Calhoun. I was born in Ft. Pierce, FL, but have lived almost my whole life in central New York state. My husband of 26 years and I have lived in the same house in Brewerton, NY for 22 years. We have raised our three children, now 24, 20, and 15, here. I am in my 25th year of teaching and my 22nd of kindergarten. I love watching littles leave my classroom reading and writing. It is extremely challenging, yet rewarding. When I am not at school, I have many other things I devote my time to. First, I love to make memories with my family, and then spend time preserving those memories in photo books. I started traditional scrapbooking over 20 years ago and now am completely digital. I attribute my love for memories to my parents. My father was always into photography as a hobby (a railroad machinist by trade),and my mother made sure to put the photos into albums. (Now she's a digital scrapper, tool) I am devoted to living a toxin-free lifestyle. I also am constantly striving to simplify and minimize our home and schedules. This is helping me to relax more and take care of myself like I never used to. This year my goal is to eat healthier and move my body more. I admit that I dislike most types of exercise. I have found that I like walking (hard to do when there is snow six months of the year) and Zumba. In the spring and summer I get out a lot because I enjoy working in the yard. I love animals, also. We used to foster dogs, but now just take care of our three cats and two dogs. The youngest of our animals is 10.

y name is Grace Koetke. I was born in Paraguay. In my teens we moved to Canada. I became a Registered Nurse in 1988, and married my partner Scott in 1993. While working as a nurse I studied Interior Design. In 1997 we welcomed our fist child, and I started my own Interior Design Firm in 1998. I had my business until 2013. Currently I am mom to two young adult daughters, Olivia & Sophia. Our family is rounded out by two fur babies, Scooter & Clash, and we live in Calgary, Alberta. As a family we love to travel. For creative pursuits I enjoy Digital Machine Embroidery, Stained Glass work, and Resin based Artwork. I have been working on digitizing all my photos, as well as those of my parents and in-laws. To date I have done much more of converting photos, and less of the digital scrapbooking. Here's to 2019 and seriously getting to work on digital scrapbooking!

Sue Page{ Hi! I'm Sue and I live in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. I have two grown children, a son who is a helicopter pilot in the 5 Marines and a daughter who is a Physical Therapist. I have two grandsons, and love visiting them every week. My brother lives in Minnesota. My day job is an IT Auditor and I work at the University of orth Texas in Denton. I have been scrapbooking for more years than I can remember, starting with traditional using Creative Memories, and then transitioned to digital using Panstoria and now Artisan. My favorite books are hybrid, where I can combine traditional and digital pages. I love using Historian to my pictures, but I don't claim to be organized!!! I am so excited and honored to be a PPC member, helping the digital scrapbooking community grow and improve their skills.

Hi! My name is Debbie Pasquini and I live in Bakersfield, CA. I was so excited when I got my email saying I had been selected for the Pixie Power Committee! I am married with three wonderful kids. This last July, my husband, Marc, and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. We are mostly empty-nesters now. My youngest son, Michael, is away at Fresno State pursuing an engineering degree. My daughter, Lauren, teaches 1st Grade and just bought her first house this last May. My middle son, Brian, is back home, but works long hours as a surveyor, so he is hardly ever home. He is paying off some bills and saving to buy his first house. I started scrapping when my kids were little back in the old CM days. I am now 100% all digital and I LOVE it! I've had a p2P membership since they started and it is the best thing I ever did. I love to take photos.
I attend as many p2P Live events as I can. Most of my events have been with Pixie Kim. I work as a middle school secretary, so I really have to make the most of my scrapping time, which is why I love Kim's events. My husband has his pilot's license and loves the Raiders, so I am trying to participate more in the two things he is passionate about -- and I get to my events a lot faster when he can fly me there! He has season tickets to the Raider's games. I went to my first game this past year and I have to say that it was really fun. Now that I have my new earbud headset -- the old headset made my ears hurt -- I enjoying flying with him a lot more. We are planning a lot more weekend trips that we otherwise wouldn't be taking and we are really enjoying lifel Life is too short to pass any adventure by, so here we come!

My husband iS a chiropractor in our little town. I do the books for the office, fill in at the front desk., decorate, and qo to seminars with him. I enjoying many activities gardening, sewing, baking, cake decorating, entertaining, researching, reading, and so much more. I have a standard poodle, Tasha, who I simply adore! I love to travel to new places, but most of our travel right now is to Florida to see our parents and siblings, to Colorado where our oldest daughter and her family live and to utah to visit our son and his family. My morn encouraged me to scrapbook. when I was in junior high school. I have used so many different ways to record the events in my life! I started with Creative Memories in 199.3 right before my youngest child was born In 2009, my oldest daughter thought we should start leaving digital scrapbook.inq. Soon thiS became my favorite method to record my stories!

As a mom of three music and theater-loving kids who are moving into their next stages of life, I feel like my roles are beginning to shift as well. There arc, however, a few things that will not change with the passage of lime. • 1 am a Jesus-loving child of the Creator of the universe. • 1 am wife and #I cheerleader to a Green Bay Packers-obsessed aviation professional. • 1 believe that recording our family's history is important because it reminds us of God's faithfulness lo us over the years. • I started traditional scrapbooking when my older daughter was born, and I became a Creative Memories consultant after my son was born. 1 started digital scrapbooking when Storybook Creator was first introduced, but I didn't complete many albums during my years of full-time homeschooling. I'm playing catch up now! • 1 love pretty things.

G'day! I live in the sunny climes of northern Australia, a few minutes from the beach, so if we're not preparing for a cyclone, we are enjoying the best weather on earth! I love being out in our garden - usually being shadowed by our 3 dogs! I was a traditional scrapper but have been digi scrapping ever since StoryBook arrived on the scene and never looked back. I enjoy photography and I am trying to improve my skills. Loi. I dabble creatively in other areas too when I'm not sleeping in preparation for a shift at work driving trains. I am obsessed with Formula 1 Grand Prix motor racing. And worldwide travelling...oh yes!!! Definitely want to do more of that. It's the only reason we work isn't it?! So we can afford to travel - then we've got more memories to scrap!!

Talia has a great love of Croes. As a treat for doing so well in school and always trying her best, we said she could skip school and go with Mom to the outlets in Clinton, CT to shop early for her birthday. We went on a Monday in May and one of the first stores she wanted to go in was the Croc store. Her favorite Croc color is white, although she does have a pretty nice color selection in her closet, almost as good as this rainbow wall of Croes!

We hod a blast at lnnermon Ministries' annual youth conference, We walked down to the beach at Comp De Wolfe. This wasn't a sandy beach. The beach was filled with beautiful rocks of all colors and textures. This was my first time attending Forever Live. It was so exciting to meet Glen Meakem and to get his book "The Gift of Forever" (written by him and his son, Henry Meakem) autographed. I also got to meet the pixies, Tameka, Kim and Jan! I was on overload with all the general sessions and the breakout sessions. It was an awesome weekend all around. Thank you "Forever!" ,_ ,L It has been a year since I have been able to
hike in the woods. I was so excited that Robbie wanted to go for a hike and we decided to try the West Tatnuck trail and then play on the school playground. We found the marker. Robbie kept his eye out for the yellow circle trail markers but then they STOPPED. We walked a little farther. When we realized that the trail was not well marked and muddy we wisely decided to turn around. Though I tried to avoid the mud I stepped into a patch of mud that was a sink hole. Down my foot went with the mud up to my knee. I tried to pull my foot out and my shoe got stuck! I fell back and Robbie was able to help me stand back up and pulled me out. After a rescue of my shoe, a rinse off and careful balancing to put my muddy shoe back on we were able to retrace our steps back to Cataract Street. Robbie was initially really scared but when I reminded him that he was my Jedi warrior in his Christmas Star War Pajamas he said...l defeated

It was the beginning of my birthday week. Apropos that I think about the past year and the darkness I endured with many family issues, my worsening hip and diagnosis of minor ailments that meant I was "getting old." There had been days where I went to a very dark place. Unsettling. But it is soon to be a new year. I have a new hip and a new outlook. I feel physically and emotionally so much better. And yes I am getting older. The new health hiccups are part of the territory. So I looked at this sunrise as a metaphor of life. The sunrise has moments of being chaotic and disorganized. Lots of light but without perspective. The clouds! Welcome the clouds! They define and make the sunrise beautiful. It was magical. I am thankful for the challenges. Life's clouds. Even the darkness. It has made me stronger. I know I want to live for many more sunrises.
