ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT ORIGINATION History of AUDA:
The Bombay town planning Act 1954 was in force ( from 1st April 1957 ) with the state of Gujarat, to control town-planning activities only within the jurisdiction of local authorities. Due to urbanization, rapid development and industrialization, planning activities within peripheral limits of cities and town accelerated. To control haphazard, unplanned and uncontrolled development activities within peripheral limits and to create better environmental condition on scientific basis, the state government consider necessary to replace the aforesaid act by most comprehensive legislation. Hence the new comprehensive legation the Gujarat town planning and urban development act 1976 (here in after referred as ‘the Act’) came in to force on 1st February 1978. under the provision of the said Act, particularly in which , the state government has power to declare development areas and to constitute area development authority as well as to declare urban development areas and to constitute urban development authority, for their receptivity areas.
The state government is of opinion that the object of proper development or redevelopment of the city and its periphery may be considered necessary will be best served by a special authority, not by an area development authority. Therefore the state government constituted Ahmedabad urban development authority on 1ST February 1978 as per the provision of the Act. The state government has declared as urban area for AUDA admeasuring 1294.65 sq. kms. including AMC area (190.84sq.kms) and four growth centre of Kalol (30.99 sq.Kms.) Dahegam (26.0sq.kms.), Sanand (40.42 sq.Kms.), Mahemdabad (13.15 sq.Kms.).
