4AIR Launches Assure SAF Registry to Track and Validate Sustainable Aviation Fuel

The Assure SAF Registry provides complete transparency about the type of SAF purchased, the feedstock used, the blend of the fuel, and any sustainabilitycertificationsearned or regulatory programs for which the fuel may be eligible. The registry is designed for both physical and book and claim supply chains of SAF and will simplifyinventory accounting and prevent double-countingof benefits. All while protecting suppliers’ commerciallysensitive and confidentialdata. By uniquely addressing a SAF tracking need for fuel suppliers, FBOs, airlines, and operators, within the physicalsupply chain, the registry can unlock the opportunityfor a robust book and claim tracking system as well.

Sustainable component of the of the industry’s unified plan for achieving net emissions by 2050

Fly FIVE Introducing the NEXT LEVEL in aviation by FIVE HOTELS AND RESORTS

“Most SAF today comes from one to two different feedstocks with a narrow range of blends. As SAF expands to new feedstocks and higher blends, transparency about the fuel and where it came from will be criticalin efforts to scale its use across the industry, includingboth business and commercialaviation,”said Kennedy Ricci, President of 4AIR. “Assure SAF Registry will provide a key piece of infrastructurefor the transparent scale-up of SAF in aviation, providing transparency to emission claimsaround SAF while maximizingthe value for the operator.”

Leveraging the expertise gained through the documentation of 5.8 milliongallons of SAF over the last 2 years, 4AIR created a registry that addresses the mostchallenging pain points found when tracing the usage of SAF. Usually, SAF is co-mingled in airport pipelines or fuel farms under mass balance or book and claim chains of custody, making it laborious to document, particularlywhen trying to retain informationfor regulatory claimsfrom the use of the fuel.

Business aviation has long been a pioneer in aviation sustainability. The 2009 Business Aviation Commitment on Climate Change (BACCC) pledged that the industry would reduce carbon emissions 50% by 2050, increase fuel efficiency 2% per year from 2010 to 2020, and achieve carbon-neutral growth from 2020.

London Oxford Airport has ambitions to be a leading centre for ‘green tech’ sectors

London Oxford Airport, the UK’s fifth-ranked busiest business aviation airport,is pivotingto offer a prospective new centre for innovationand green tech with a proposed new R&D science park at the entrance to the Airport. Bizav Aircraft OEMs Share Perspectives on Decarbonizing the Industry

When Sustainableaviation fuel (SAF), derived from renewable feedstocks and waste products, holds the greatest potentialto reduce aviation carbon emissions in the near term.Business aviation OEMs shared their perspective on how the industry is also leading the way in other less visible areas, from designing lighter and more efficient airframesand cleaner-burning engines to utilizing direct routing to reduce travel times and fuel burn

Moderator: Lisa Starke | Panelists: Éric Trappier (Dassault Aviation), Eric Martel (Bombardier), Benoit Defforge (Airbus Corporate Jets), Mark Burns (Gulfstream), Joe Benson (Boeing Business Jets), Michael Amalfitano (Embraer)

“Technology leads to sustainability,”said Michael Amalfitano, president and CEO of Embraer Executive Jets. “As we continue to advance our products and our services to support those advancements, it’s a really strong commitmentby all the OEMs to continue to create a more efficient aircraftand a more efficient manufacturing operation.”

“Each successive generation of airplane is 15 to 25% more efficient and that means lower emissionsas well,” added Boeing Business Jets CEO Joe Benson. “More direct routing saves another 10%, right there. So, there are a lot of things we can do right now.”

Gulfstream Aerospace President Mark Burns stressed the importanceof presenting facts to “take the emotionout of the moment”in the increasingly contentious environmentaldebate and find solutions without government intervention

“I have less concern about our abilityto solve this

than I do about a knee jerk reaction,” he said. “We could [be forced by regulation to] implement somethingthat is unattainable. It’s why I think we as an industry want to help shape the decision-making so that it incentivizes us to continue to solve the problem.”

At EBACE 2023, Lufthansa Technik (booth #H72) presented a pre-launch of a brand new VIP cabin concept for the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) 777-9

The cabin design takes full advantage of the vast space available on the BBJ 777-9, formerly referred to as the BBJ 777X aircraft, and prioritizes versatility and multifunctionality. The design showcases an impressive array of stunning features. It furthermore maximizes space and comfort, and incorporates traditional elements of Middle Eastern cultural heritage with a modern twist. One of the standout features is the VVIP section at the front with a unique private bedroom that is expandable and highly functional. The detailed design will be revealed later this year. A spacious office and reception area divides the private section from the remaining areas of the aircraft. The cabin also boasts a large majlis, with a design that seamlessly flows throughout the entire cabin. Additionally, the back of the cabin has been designed to transport entourage delegations in style and convenience to cater for the needs of official missions. A special light and window

shade concept has been implemented throughout the cabin, giving passengers the feeling of being in their personal living room rather than on a plane at 30,000 feet, particularly important for an ultra-long-range aircraft. This cabin design is the first of its kind to be developed using native aircraft data as provided by Boeing. This ensures the feasibility of the design, as dimensions and space shown are 100 percent accurate.

“We are thrilled to unveil first insights into this new VIP cabin design for the BBJ 777-9,” said Jan Grube, Sales Director in VIP & Special Mission Aircraft Services at Lufthansa Technik. “Our team’s mission was to create a cabin that is both functional and beautiful, while also meeting the unique needs of our VIP clients in the Middle East. We are confident that this cabin design will set a new standard for VIP aviation, and we look forward to bringing it to market.”
