Traits of Good Writers While every writer has his or her own ideas, style, and methods for writing, all good writers share many of the same traits. Good writers: •
Write every day, or as often as possible. Many writers keep journals in which they record their thoughts and impressions.

Find and develop interesting ideas for writing.
•
Try different forms of writing.
•
Are curious and want to understand why things are as they are.
•
Strive to communicate their ideas to others to enlighten, to entertain, or to persuade.
•
Conduct research when necessary.
•
Make sure all facts are accurate.
•
Learn and apply the rules of written English.
•
Revise and edit their material to make it the best it can be.
•
Are persistent in completing their writing no matter how difficult.
•
Enjoy reading as part of their quest for knowledge, as well as for entertainment and a means to see how other writers construct their material. Have favorite authors, whose work they admire.

Continue to grow as writers.
