The hairless Chair

In the July issue of the magazine there was an ode to the Hairy Chair telling members of the West Country Group Chairman’s plan to raise funds for a charity by having all his hair removed. Although still displaying his rings on his hands the Hairy Chair is now the Hairless Chair with Bob having allowed members to cut off a piece of his hair for a donation to charity.

The great haircut took place at the Exmouth Ruby Club ate a West Country Group Temporary Campsite. The event was supported not just by West Country members but by members from 13 other Groups, not only in the removal of the fl owing locks but also in a book sale and auction of items.

To make life easier, and possibly safer, for Bob his hair was plaited into a myriad of tiny plaits in the afternoon. The evening came and members were invited to step forward and remove one of these plaits for a contribution. Encouraged by others the activity was popular and this plus the auction that followed raised £613.

Donations also came as follows: the book sale raised £35.43, another £5.70 was placed in the charity box so £654.13 was raised on the day. But, this was not all, a feature on the Travel Trolls YouTube and donations from friends raised £905 and there was £378.25 in the funds from before covid. This resulted in there being a running total of £1937.38 which will go to the charity which is The Children’s Holiday Foundation, North Devon.
