Jewish Community Yom HaShoah Observance Monday, April 8, 6:30pm

Albert & Sara Reuben Holocaust Memorial Garden (6705 Hoover Rd.) Please join the Jewish community in observing Holocaust Remembrance Day – Yom HaShoah. We will gather together outside for a memorial service and candle lighting ceremony.

Indiana Youth Summit

Wednesday, April 10, 9:00am Indiana Government Center 300 Middle School students from schools throughout Indiana have been invited to participate in a 2-hour educational program about rescuers from the Holocaust, and the importance of advocating for the rights of all. Following the Summit, students will attend the State of Indiana’s Holocaust Observance in the Rotunda of the State House. This program was developed by the Bureau of Jewish Education with funding from the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, and in cooperation with the JCRC.

Please join many of our state’s elected officials for the 15th Annual State of Indiana Holocaust Day of Remembrance. The program will include remarks by Indiana Governor Mike Pence and State Superintendent of Public Schools Glenda Ritz, as well as a presentation by students from the Hasten Hebrew Academy of Indianapolis. This program is a collaboration of the Indianapolis Jewish Community Relations Council, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission, the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, and the Bureau of Jewish Education.

City of Carmel Observance Friday, April 12, Noon

Carmel City Hall (1 Civic Square) Please join Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard in the City of Carmel’s annual Holocaust Observance program, which will feature Susan Stiasny sharing her mother’s story. Rabbi Benjamin Sendrow of Carmel’s Congregation Shaarey Tefilla, will facilitate the program, which will also include performances by the University High School Choir and the Carmel United Methodist Church Bell Choir.

Jewish Community Youth Yom HaShoah Program Sunday, April 14, 10:00am - 12:30pm Bureau of Jewish Education (6711 Hoover Road)

5th – 8th grade Jewish students from throughout the Jewish community will come together to learn about efforts by rescuers during the Holocaust, and will then conduct a memorial service at the Albert & Sara Reuben Holocaust Memorial Garden. This program is developed in partnership among the following: Bureau of Jewish Education, Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, Congregation Shaarey Tefilla, Hasten Hebrew Academy of Indianapolis, and Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. ###
