Congregation’s Annual Meeting On June 28th the Congregation meet to review the state of the shul. XYA was honored with the Lev Tov Award for her dedicated service as a volunteer. Additionally the Congregation voted for the 2015-2016 Officers and Board of Directors.

Carmel Cooperative Preschool Our new NW Cooperative Preschool, is excited to share this fundraiser. The Scrip program is dollar for dollar. For example, to order a $25 Macy's card, you write a $25 check to NW Cooperative Preschool and mail it in to CST office. You receive a $25 Macy's card, and CST will receive 10% on this particular card from the Scrip Company. Who Wants to Be A Minyanaire?

Minyans at CST are Monday and Wednesday at 6:30pm. In order for anyone to say kaddish we need our shul family to help. This is something families can do together. Please contact Joe Ofengender or the CST office to let us know when you are able to attend a minyan. Thank you

Bikur Cholim Reminder The Bikur Cholim Committee would like to remind our Congregants that if you know of any of our members who are coping with an illness or death to please contact our Bikor Cholim committee at bikorcholim@shaareytefilla.org so our Synagogue can reach out accordingly.

Racing - Day Out with CST Men's Club Warm up your engines! Join CST for a family afternoon at the races on Sunday August 16th. Time for races will be announced early in August and is expected to be at 2:00 pm. Races should last 3-4 hours. Our seats will be in the family friendly (non-alcoholic and smoke free) section right along the front stretch. Racing will feature Vore's Compact and CRA Late Model races. Your check delivered to the CST Office by Wednesday August 12th is your reservation. State on check, the number of adults ($12/per adult) and children (age 6-12 is $4/ per child and free for children under 6) who are attending. July 22: Rabbi Benjamin Sendrow and Brett Krichiver will team up to teach Tisha B’av: Remembering, Lamenting and Learning for Today.

July 29: Rabbi Paula Winnig & George Kelley teaching Forgive & Forget? What is the Jewish Obligation?

The series costs $25 for all three classes or $10 for each class. No pre-registrat ion is necessary. Rabbi Sendrow and Rabbi Krichiver present "Tisha B'av: Remembering, Lamenting and Learning for Today" at the BJE on July 22nd at 7:00pm. Admission is $10.00.

Men’s Club ~ Burn Your Carbs 3 Burn Your Carbs 3 Cycling Meetup will be held on Sunday, September 20, at 9:00am at CST Parking Lot. We will again do a 5, 20, and 40 mile suggested route. Bring family, friends, acquaintances and your helmets.

CST will be hosting a Kallah where we will have the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing, fun and educational Shabbot. Details will be released soon.

A GREAT Night with the Indianapolis Indians

Photography Class & Contest Sunday, October 18, from 2-5pm a Photo Class and Nature tour will be held at Holiday Park . The cost is $10/person, and must be paid in advance. This program is limited to the first 15 that register. Contest rules will be provided at the class for photos taken on the nature tour. Roberts Camera will provide a surprise reward for the winner!

Presentation will be made at the Hanukkah dinner.

Annual Picnic On August 9th we will celebrate at the home of Matt & Laura Burton 2861 Towne Drive, Carmel, IN 46032.

Please RSVP with your payment of $10/adult and $5/child (5-12) with a maximum of $25/family (children under 5 are FREE) We will be serving burgers & hot dogs ~ beef as well as vegetarian so bring your appetite. And yes, the pool will be open!!!

Do you have a little time to share with the shul? Volunteers are always welcome from our newly established Bikor Cholim committee to almost any aspect of shul activities. WE NEED YOU!!!

In the Community The Temple Heritage Center, Inc., in partnership with Indiana Landmarks, has been leading efforts to rescue the endangered Beth-El Temple. The following is a brief update on our progress to date, and challenges we are addressing in the coming year.

Here are a few of our important accomplishments: Site control of the property and building was secured by Indiana Landmarks, with support from Temple Heritage Center board; Completion of an architectural analysis and feasibility study for rehabilitation of the building by architectural firm Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf; Raised matching funds of $195,000 ($110,000 from Efroymson Family Fund of CICF, $75,000 from individuals, $10,000 from the Beth El Zedeck Foundation) to release $100,000 committed by the City and Mapleton-Fall Creek Development Corporation. These funds were used to complete a new roof and drainage system for the building this spring; Developed a sophisticated fundraising piece entitled Save This Sacred Space, including restoration renderings of the building completed by Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf; Identified an end use for the building, including development of a mission statement, vision statement and initial goals. Our goal for the building is to serve the city’s Mid-North area as a vocational training facility which we have named the Beth-El Center for Learning; Secured non-profit and 501(c)3 status for the Temple Heritage Center organization, which allow for charitable, tax-deductible gifts from donors.

As we continue to address issues such as the building’s condition, fundraising and securing partnerships to implement a new use, the Board of Directors is committed to keeping you informed. If you are interested in contributing to our ongoing efforts to stabilize the Temple or implement a new vision, please contact Indiana Landmarks at 317-639-4534.
