RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT We have the in-house capability to take a concept and rapidly turn it into a reality. With our progressive and innovative approach to continually improving our product with direct user feedback our customer centricity is the cornerstone of our success. Our design team is highly trained and possesses industrial design capability allowing us to animate, pattern, sample and trial-manage an extremely broad bandwidth of products. Every product we design is driven by a specific customer need and with a “solution based” approach; we challenge our customers on every detail they are able to share. Such details include application, area of operations and equipment’s with which our product needs to work with.

We know from years of experience that the more we understand, the more we can assist. Although our design team is geared to develop new concepts in-house, they are also skilled in conducting test and evaluation of leading technologies that are commercially available. Rather than utilise resources to “reinvent the wheel” we prefer to partner with other leaders in the pursuit for delivering on requirements specified by our customers. We have a specific sub-contractor assessment process which is used to aid us in the decision to partner with an organisation and this process assesses many aspects of the prospective partner including product integrity, company track record, and their approach to quality and back-up support. On average, we complete two to five new designs (specific to a customer need), each week on top of developing new product for our retail range under the name of PLATATAC.

MARITIME AMPHIBIOUS LITTORAL OPERATIONS UNIFORM (MALOU) The MALOU is a highly versatile, lightweight uniform that can be worn from insertion, the swim in, over the beach and onto the target. Based on PLATATAC’s tried and proven Tac Dax and CUT Shirt designs, The MALO Uniform has been enhanced with features and fabrics tailored for amphibious operations. Tweave 520E Durastretch® and Polartec Power Dry® fabrics have been utilised to make a lightweight, highly breathable, wind and abrasion-resistant uniform that will dry quickly to minimise chafing.

The MALOU shirt is made from Tweave 520E Durastretch®, which is a 4-way stretch, 100% nylon fabric, featuring a DWR treatment to block and shed water, allowing it to be submerged entirely. The body of the MALOU shirt is made from Polartec Power Dry® which provides superior comfort, breathability & moisture management. Both of these fabrics combined make a lightweight, highly breathable, wind and abrasionresistant uniform that will dry quickly to minimise chafing. The collar of the shirt is also lined with Polartec Power Dry, for added comfort when wet. The PLATATAC Harry Hard 1.2 is the latest rendition in our family of mid-weight softshell jackets that combines utility and clean-lined style into a tailored and highly versatile garment to give you a feature packed jacket which will keep you comfortable at work or doubles as a smart looking option for outside work hours. The bonded fleece with a polyester/spandex shell allows unrestricted movement, protects you from the elements and is also breathable, wind and water repellent, and with an FR coating, it not only provides warmth but will protect you from flash flame. After years of requests, we have designed the Harriet Hard Jacket, made from the ground up for women, with direct end-user input from women. This is not just a smaller sized ‘unisex’ jacket. This has been built to suit the female form and meet the requirements of a modern female uniformed professional. With a new, slim, modern, feminine-cut, the Harriet is a highly versatile jacket. It is designed to be worn as a standalone softshell as part of a uniform for those who are involved in law enforcement, security and emergency services. HELSBY SMOCK An exclusive collaboration between PLATATAC & Minerva Technical brings you the aptly named Helsby Smock, named in honour of Operation Helsby in Malaya, 1951. SR MESH HOOD AND SHOULDERS The PLATATAC SR mesh hood and shoulders is a lightweight, packable scaled-down ghillie suit hood that covers the head, shoulders and upper part of the torso to break up the wearer’s shape aiding in visual-based camouflage/concealment and remaining under the detection threshold. SICC BELT PAD The SICC Pad is constructed of closed-cell foam with a heavy-duty mesh covering. The outer has full-length 1” (25mm) loop velcro to attach the SICC Belt Mk3. The inside has 1” hook portions to mate with to either the SICC Inner or SICC Low Profile belts. This belt pad adds some additional standoff and comfort, has positive buoyancy and drys quickly.

3S BELT PAD MK3 The PLATATAC 3S belt pad Mk3 is a low profile, versatile and lightweight gunfighter base belt which bridges the gap between a modular rigger’s belt i.e.. a SICC belt and a full belt kit setup. One of the best known PLATATAC plate carriers is the SMAC, designed and manufactured in response to a SOCOMD requirement. With adaptability being key and without sacrificing comfort for durability, the SMAC 3 features a simple and well thought out design. The SMAC 3 brings a more modular approach to the SMAC system, with adaptability and flexibility the cornerstone to the system. Beginning with the base plate carrier, there are two options, the first a revision of the tried and proven SMAC 2, featuring MOLLE on front and back, internal padding, and a front kangaroo pocket. For the SMAC 3 we’ve also developed a slick version. With an emphasis on lightening the load without losing durability, we have removed MOLLE on the front & back, as well as the front cummerbund flap. Colour matched loop fields allow the addition of mag placards and other accessories. Two optional styles of shoulder straps – padded and low profile – are also available to complete the base system. Two styles of cummerbund are now available. The first is a traditional mesh backed cummerbund, with MOLLE on both exterior & interior to add a plethora of accessories. The second is elasticised and feature integrated Mag pockets, sized for M4 style rifle and pistol magazines.

A range of inserts have been developed for the SMAC 3 kangaroo pouch. The ASAD Zippered Admin Insert converts the kangaroo pouch to a flat Admin pouch, perfect for the stowage of small equipment, maps or other Admin items. The ASAD Elastic Rifle Insert allows for an extra three M4 style magazines to be carried on the SMAC. The SMAC 3 Front Flag Mag Placard has been designed to carry a maximum of 6 M4 style magazines. The main three magazine slots feature Kydex inserts to securely hold the magazine. Adjustable shock cords offer added security. A layer of colour matched elastic creates a second row of magazine pouches. The elastic makes it adaptable for a variety of items in addition to magazines. The shock cords can be adjusted for either row of magazines, or removed completely. The back of the placard is Velcro loop, to allow quick attachment to the SMAC. Removable ITW clips on the top and sides allow for added security and compatibility with various systems.

The CRABS V2 chest rig system provides a modular platform to tier up or down depending on the mission requirement. The scalability and configurable options allow it to be used as a magazine placard attached a plate carrier for low vis or full scale warfighting, or standalone as a chest rig system when integrated with CHICOM harness components.

The CRABS V2 Base Panel is the bones of the system, it has velcro loop internally to attach a myriad of optional ammunition inserts, standalone it can accommodate up to three M4 mags, four subgun mags or two 7.62 mags and pistol mag, Or with a combination of other inserts two M4 mags and pistol, or two M4 and two pistol mags. The base panel is what all the other CRABS or chicom accessories integrate with allowing carriage of additional ammo/ EO, flashlights, admin/medical gear and EMOE equipment.

The CRABS V2 Pocket Panel provides the user an open top kangaroo style pocket to carry additional magazines (allowing up to six M4 style magazines or four 762 magazines) or EO using inserts such as the dual and quad 40mm/flashbang inserts. Utilising the velcro-in zips or zippered pocket insert will make it an admin pouch.

The CRABS V2 Admin Pocket is a purpose made pouch to enlarge the carrying capacity of the system. At the rear it has a zippered pouch with internal elastic dividers and a mesh pocket to store administrative items and a front flat zip pouch for smaller items, which is covered in Velcro loop to attach IIF/Flags.

ILBV VEST The ILBV Vest was developed in response to a specification from a Law Enforcement Agency in Australia. A modular system was developed to be flexible enough to be worn in sub-tropical regions, whilst retaining light armour protection. ASAD ASSAULTER PROTECTION SYSTEM The ASAD is lightweight, low profile and ergonomic base platform that can be worn through a range of operations due to the scalable and adaptive design. With a wide range of accessories and up armour potential, the carrier can be utilised from discreet level operations through to deliberate action in a Law Enforcement or CT setting. The Peacekeeper MK5 (PK5) is the latest iteration in the PLATATAC family of CHICOM-compatible fixed rigs. Like its predecessor, it boasts a large carrying capacity, with three double velcro closure magazine pouches central to the rig designed primarily to hold 2 x M4 magazines each. The magazine pouches have adjustable/removable lids to allow larger magazines, such as AK47 mags to be carried or allow easier access to mags by removing the flaps all together. They can also accommodate a pistol, black means (Baofeng) radio or a smoke grenade if required. Bungee retention around the mag pouches provides additional security for stowed items. A PALS field either side of the mag pouches allows the user to attach additional magazine, grenade, radio, or first aid pouches. Below the magazine pouches is a long zippered pouch for other mission essentials, such as additional first aid items or dems gear. Sewn to the bottom of this pouch are webbing loops to attach either of two elastic inserts (included), one holds SOF or CAT TQ and the other can hold two 4” or 6” cyalume, having either one readily accessible when required. At the extreme ends of the PK5 are two medium zippered accessory pouches with additional clip closure. These pouches will hold a water bottle such as the PLATATAC

1 Litre flask or a 1 Litre Nalgene, or utilising the internal open-top mesh pouch with bungee retention, a single ANPRC 152 radio can be carried when utilizing the 19mm clip to close the pouch. A small zippered pocket on the front of each pouch is perfect for smaller items like cam kits, gloves etc. 2 x Rows x 2 Columns of external PALS on either side of each pouch allow you to attach smaller MOLLE compatible pouches such as grenade pouches. Against the body centrally is an velcro closure mesh pocket. A long zip can be inserted into this pouch to make it zippered admin pocket. Either side of this is a Tweave 4 way stretch pocket that can be used to hold additional mags, radio, a map, notebook, GRG or marker panel. The Velcro sandwich area between the back mesh and under the pouches has been enlarged, to allow better integration of our ASAD range of velcro in sub load pouches. Included with the PK5 are two harness options, the standard CHICOM low pro adjustable shoulder straps and the CHICOM LW H-Harness, which provides a lightweight generalpurpose alternative to the low pro straps. Both are flat-sewn, and designed to remain as flat as possible for use with packs and other harness systems. A range of other harness options is available to boost carrying capacity.

PEACEKEEPER JW CHEST RIG The PLATATAC Peacekeeper JW (Jungle Warfare) chest rig is a low profile, light weight general purpose chest rig designed for close country patrols, or hot weather/water operations which can be worn standalone, or in conjunction with over body armour systems. The PK-JW features dedicated pouches that hold just the right amount of essentials and features a front centre zip for easy doffing and donning. SR JUNGLE ALICE PACK The SR Jungle Pack was developed to meet a specific end-user requirement for a pack system to be used conducting jungle operations and is the base product of our SR jungle pack system. The main body is constructed out of one complete piece of fabric to provide higher strength while also creating a consistent shape throughout the height and width of the pack. The tall design ensures the least resistance when moving through close terrain. SPUR TROPICAL CAF MOD From its humble beginnings as part of the SPUR pack range the SPUR tropical quickly became the pack of choice for our military personnel and an NSN’d pack for overseas deployments. This variant has been created as a response to a customer’s specific requirements. The SPUR tropical with its unique X-Frame system designed to allow maximum airflow, evaporation and climate control when in hot environments under a heavy physical workload. The X-Frame will also help distribute the pack load onto the hips and small of the back reducing strain. The frame has removable shoulder straps featuring Airmesh padding. We have also included a waist strap and Airmesh padding with a pocket to stow the waist straps when not in use. A large 34L (2075 ci) main storage compartment provides ample storage for mission items such as radios, batteries, MOE tools or overnight/ECW gear. This compartment also features 3 zippered mesh pockets and a hydration sleeve and hanger for a 3Lbladder. Hydration and cable routing is found through two covered ports on the top of the pack. The second compartment has been expanded to 14L, which allows for extra clothing, panel markers etc.. and includes a further two mesh zippered pockets for the storage of smaller items such as strobes, cyalume etc.. The front flat zippered pocket is perfect for smaller items i.e. notebooks, maps, snacks, darts etc.. Around the outside of the pack you will find 4 large 3.38L (206 ci) pockets perfectly sized for issue ration packs, 1L flasks and other similar sized objects. We have left an opening behind the pockets for the storage of long items. The CAF Mod also features three additional external pouches, sized for smoke grenades, or similar sized items. DE (DIVE/ECHELON) BAG The new PLATATAC DE (Dive/Echelon) Bag V2 is based around our classic, tried and tested, dyed in the wool dive bags with some additional features to cater to various tasks and roles. It is available in two sizes, a large for long trips/deployments and a medium for backs of vehicles or when storage space is at a premium. The DE Bag V2 is manufactured from rugged, waterresistant 1000D nylon Cordura material. For added strength, the 50mm webbing that forms the shoulder strap and carry handles runs the full length and width of the bag. The main compartment features a D shaped zipper opening for ease of accessing and storing gear. There are two mesh pockets on the inside of the lid and two mesh zippered compartments running the full length of the bag to separate equipment and stow smaller items. A large zippered compartment down each side and a medium zippered pocket at each end of the bag allow you to separate wet/dirty clothes, dirty shoes or extra gear without sacrificing volume and space in the main compartment. MED ECHO MK2 The PLATATAC Med Echo V2 Pack has come about from direct end user feedback and input. It is the culmination of many minds and hours of combat and field time and it’s the latest edition to our ECHO pack range. The Med Echo Pack has been designed specifically to carry multiple emergency medical items required in a casualty situation, but the platform is flexible enough to be tailored to be used as a small assault/patrol, EMOE or combat sustainment pack. Externally, the Med Echo Pack has PALS areas on the front and sides to mount MOLLE compatible pouches, a large front pocket with Velcro closure allows you to insert the triple elastic shingle to hold extra mags or the full zip insert to convert it to zip access, both of which come standard with the pack. PADDED RIFLE BAG The PLATATAC Padded Rifle Bag is designed to store an AR-style rifle and additional upper with attached optics. The bag can be carried via two suitcase handles or flat sewn handles at each end of the bag. A detachable shoulder strap and stowable shoulder straps allow for optional hands-free carry. The main compartment of the bag features a MOLLE/PALS style web tape system allowing velcro straps to be placed anywhere to keep the weapon secure. The barrels and buttstock can be secured further under the flaps at each end of the main compartment. On the outside, there are two large pockets, one at each end with a smaller pocket in the middle, each of them designed to store different items. LIGHTWEIGHT RIFLE SLING KIT The PLATATAC lightweight rifle sling combines proven features found on classic two point slings with the added comfort of a thin padded section into a minimalist adaptable system. The sling is adjustable via the ITW ladder lock at the forward end and combined with the ITW oval loop running down the webbing for a smooth adjustment allowing the user to instantly lengthen and shorten the sling - quickly transitioning from a “hands-free” carry to a shooting position with a simple pull of the webbing loop adjuster. SOCD ASOT MKII The PLATATAC SOCD Australian Special Operations Tool (ASOT) MkII is designed as a fast access personal defence tool, intended to bridge the gap between hand to knife and knife to primary weapons system. Designed by an Australian Tier-one operator, it is an evolution from our original ASOT. The ring of the ASOT enhances feel in the hand and the tool’s accessibility, making it exceptionally fast and easy to draw. Its primary advantage over conventional blades is the retention it offers, whilst allowing for a seamless transition to a handgun with no disconnect between the tool and gun. A low profile design allows the tool to be sandwiched between magazine or accessories pouches, this means no-one knows it’s there but the operator carrying it. In CQB, rapid access to the tool is critical to create space in a lethal clinch situation, the ASOT gives the operator best balance between speed of deployment whilst maintaining optimum concealment and retention.

PLATATAC CEREMONIAL AAS COMMANDO DAGGER Platypus Outdoors Group through our PLATATAC brand have been a long-time supporter of Australian Commandos. As part of that commitment we have forged a specifically shaped dagger, an AAS – Australian Army Stiletto. The AAS is available through the Australian Commando Association, 1st Commando Regiment, 2nd Commando Regiment and the Special Air Service Regiment. We have spent many years refining the design and manufacturing process of the dagger. We have now officially partnered with our specialist knife makers from Sheffield England, to finalise the project. They have mastered the British traditions of bespoke knife design. Our bladesmiths are also the current manufacturers for the Ministry of Defence – Sykes Fairbairn. Each AAS comes with a traditional WW2 leather sheath, and are individually numbered.
