Stamp Duty You have to pay Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) if you buy property in the UK over a certain price. The SDLT rate depends on: i) the purchase price of the property ii) whether the property is residential.
When buying or selling your property, there are various fees & disbursements payable. Fees involve a profit element due to the Solicitor acting. Disbursements are products or services obtained on your behalf at cost price. Below is a guide of fees & disbursements you are likely to pay when buying a property.

Disbursements are fees that we must pay on your behalf whilst carrying out the work. Most disbursements are compulsory because they are needed to carry out the service which we are providing. If a mortgage lender is involved, they will also dictate some disbursements required, such as specific searches, because we will also be instructed to act for them also. Land Registry These are fees paid to the Land Registry, to register the property and any associated charges, into your name. The fees are banded & dependent on the purchase price or transfer fee.
