The Triumph of Colour

The stylistic codes of a historic name in the Italian fashion industry now decorate the table with a style heritage that has brought the brand international fame

he revolution brought about by Missoni in the fashion world has transformed knitwear items into works of art, with dynamic geometrical patterns and kaleidoscopic colours. The brand was founded in 1953 by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni, and its unmistakable style has extended into the Home sector, interpreting Rosita’s vision of the home as a haven of warmth and welcome, an organised yet informal environment that can also excite and surprise. A new element, the tableware line, was added to the Missoni world in 2022. The Missoni Tableware Collection is produced and distributed by the manufacturer Arnolfo di Cambio – Compagnia Italiana del Cristallo S.r.l., another illustrious Italian company that began producing tableware collections in 1963. The brand’s distinctive patterns, transferred onto prestigious materials like fine bone china, blown glass and silver-plated stainless steel take on new expressive possibilities. The tableware collection develops a number of lines reflecting the many ways the table can be experienced, starting with a series of tea and coffee services, complemented by decorative mugs and vases and bearing the bright, multicolour pattern of the Stripes line. The table services, complete with charger plates, fruit dishes and bread plates, are recognisable from the refined zigzag pattern that immediately evokes the play of shades that’s a characteristic feature of the knitwear collections – the Zig Zag line is offered in a range of colours, from refined total white to sets where the dominant hues are shades of deep blue, cobalt blue or orange, violet and fuchsia. The decoration doesn’t end

From the Missoni Tableware collection, the Zig Zag line includes hand-blown crystal glasses and the table service. The pattern is engraved in relief on the glass, while the colours on the plates evoke the artistic emphasis that is the brand’s distinctive feature

A series of possibilities from the Zig Zag line, here applied to the silver-plated stainlesssteel cutlery items, the plates in single colour White and Jarris coloured versions applied to the plates and mugs. The pattern is a lifestyle interpretation of Missoni’s elegant, eclectic and vivacious look, based on a combination of signs and colours that seem to be in constant movement

with the plates, but also extends to glassware items created by master glassmakers in transparent, amber and faded anthracite shades where the zigzag appears in relief, and the silver-plated stainless-steel cutlery with a decorative pattern engraved by skilled Italian artisans. www.missoni.com
