he Custom Line flagship is about to arrive. It’s not just a new navetta from the Ferretti Group, but a 50-metre yacht with a wealth of new content, starting with the concept behind it, based on the owner’s requirement to create spatial interconnections throughout the yacht. The result of a collaboration between the strategic product department led by the engineer Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard Engineering, the exterior design is by the architect Filippo Salvetti with interiors by Studio ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. Alongside the Ferretti Group brand they sought a style that highlighted the yacht’s personality, values and heritage. “In building it, Custom Line drew on the know-how of the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard Engineering in Ancona. It’s an all-aluminium build, a light material that enables us to use more volumes in the upper part of yacht without compromising its stability. It also leads to reduced consumption and fewer emissions. The concept includes an important new feature – the owner’s suite has been shifted from the main to the upper deck, in the same way as on craft over 60/70 metres in length, and this had a radical impact on the design. “The owner’s area is the real strength of the concept”, says Filippo Salvetti “It is the source of the yacht’s shape and line, which reflect this presence through a sculptural treatment of the surfaces in this area. The flat surfaces from stern to bow open out to the exterior and create a sort of frame near the owner’s cabin, which is the widest point of the yacht. Reflecting the style of the navette in the range, shaped by a linear design with lots of dark and light, we’ve included shutters and spaces in the midships gunwale to give

Tit more character”. The deck is entirely walkaround, all the spaces are interconnected and for the exclusive use of the owner. The forward terrace is a private space, sheltered even from the eyes of guests on the sun deck. The owner’s suite is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, providing a 180-degree view of the sea. The interconnection between interiors and exteriors in the guest areas is another of the new Navetta 50’s distinctive elements, especially in the main deck and upper deck lounges, thanks to the use of large, full-height windows and reflective surfaces. “Everywhere you walk on the yacht there are floor-to-ceiling windows that make the interiors transparent”, says Patricia Viel. “The walls have been almost dematerialised”. The interiors by the Milan-based international studio feature refined details and luxurious, sustainable materials including leather and natural hides by Foglizzo Leather and walnut panelling by Alpi Lignum. The same wood is used for the custom design furnishings, whose production was entrusted to the artisanals skills of the yard’s workforce. These pieces are complemented by items designed by Antonio Citterio. The open-air spaces are highlighted on all the decks. A spectacular forward sundeck where the uncovered area can become a lounge and dining area that is linked to over 70 square metres of covered deck area and an American bar. Of course, there is also a beach club aft which develops from the closed stern to open out onto the sea with a 35-square-metre platform. Together with the cockpit and the interior area this provides 120 square metres of uninterrupted livable space in direct contact with the sea. Apart from the owner’s cabin, accommodation comprises four guest cabins hosting up to ten people. customline-yacht.com

Which of the two Custom Lines model ranges is more successful - the planing or displacement yachts? Owners from all over the world choose Custom Line models to communicate their vision of sailing through the total personalisation of the yacht. All of the brand’s yachts feature cutting-edge design, construction and on-board technology solutions. The fleet has two spirits, which meet in the same passion for the sea but different sailing profiles. The two lines are designed to meet every sailing need and lifestyle. What type of owner is each line intended for? The planing line comprises superyachts for the most demanding, dynamic owners. It’s a sublime expression of speed, performance, strength and avant-garde aesthetics. It’s especially appreciated by American buyers for the high performance and reduced draught of its yachts, enabling owners to sail in the shallow waters of the Caribbean. The Navetta line is made up of luxury yachts that are perfect for those who like sailing long distances in total comfort, enjoying generous volumes and spaces. The emphasis here is on elegance, beauty and exclusivity. At the moment how many craft in each line are under construction and when is launch set for? From the beginning of the year to right now we’ve launched a total of fifteen yachts, and that number will reach twenty by the end of the year. We’re excited about the results we’ve achieved, but we’re not resting on our laurels. At the moment we have forty craft under construction, 60% of which are Navetta and 40% are planing models.

The Navetta 50 metres is the flagship. What lies behind the requirement to offer Custom Line craft above 30 metres?

We’ve sold over 200 Custom Line brand yachts, and that’s proof of the close link we’ve created with owners. They grow with us, remaining loyal to the brand and moving on from smaller to larger models. Yachting is increasingly oriented towards the idea of floating villas, and Custom Line offers the best interpretation of this trend. What type of eco-sustainable solutions are featured on this model? There are many! Above all, the use of aluminium with a 1/3 difference in weight from steel, generating consumption savings of around 10-15% over a 50-metre yacht of the same dimensions and volumes (GT). The Custom Line Navetta 50 Hull#01 will also be equipped with an SCR - selective catalytic reduction system. For the interior design we’ve used Alpi lignum walnut panelling, a certified eco-sustainable material with no formaldehyde additives. The taps from the Axor Citterio range, designed by Citterio, have a flow rate of five litres per minute instead of twelve litres, and the Foglizzo natural leather products are 100% recycled.
