The second generation has arrived in OT and has worked with Oliver and Elke on a new collection that brings the colours of the sea aboard. The result? Magically atmospheric interiors that are sophisticated and captivating at once

The colour blue has always been a symbol of harmony and calm, balance and serenity. Now bespoke hand-tufted carpet specialist and superyacht designer favourite OT has chosen to dedicate its latest collection to the colour too. “Blue Monday uses a very new technique with an enormous volume effect that demonstrates the outstanding skill involved in our collection,” explains Elke Treutlein. The company was founded and continues to operate from town of Meerbusch, between Düsseldorf and Krefeld, in a German region where the textile industry is very much part of life. “When I started out, I made the carpets myself, creating custom designs for custom projects,” says Oliver Treutlein who runs the firm with his wife Elke, their daughter Julia and son-in-law Max. Keeping the business in the family has been the cornerstone of OT’s success. Luxurious naturally hardwearing materials - pure silk, cool linen and ultra-fine New Zealand virgin wool - are the order of the day. “Our carpets are a natural handmade product,” continues Elke. “We have always produced a sustainable product as a result of our understanding high luxury and quality textile products. We do not use any chemical ingredients. They are a part of the interior that makes

people feel comfortable in their home, their yacht or their workspace”. They are also wonderfully enriching works of art in their own right. Collaborations with renowned international designers have yielded collections that chime perfectly with the needs of high-end interior designers. As a result, OT’s carpets adorn luxury hotels, embassies, theatres and banks as well as private residences and aircraft. Oliver Treutlein fell in love with designing for superyachts in the early 90s too and can’t wait to see Blue Monday take to the seas. “We are sure that this new collection will find its perfect place onboard,” he smiles. www.olivertreutlein.com
