achting is many things: a passion, a lifestyle, an embodiment of emotions and design prowess. Right now, there is more and more talk about nautically-related design but in many instances, merely because it is piggybacking a current trend or market to be chased. Design functional to megayachts, private aircraft, helicopters, cars and more is absolutely intrinsic to the DNA of The ONE Yacht & Design. Having been part of the fabric of haute gamme yachting for many years now both because of our personal passions and professions, we have come to understand the importance of the emotion that design (of exteriors, interiors and furnishings) can communicate to potential clients and how it can influence their purchasing choices. The ONE Yacht & Design’s pages, in fact, feature articles such as Exclusive Yacht Decor, Creative Minds, Trend Setters, Young Talents and Be Spoke, to reflect that sensibility. That is without even mentioning the massive 15page spreads we devote to individual superyachts because we feel they need and deserve that amount of space to properly showcase their designs and interior furnishings. When design is intelligent enough to go beyond merely moving us to playing a functional role, and, even better, doing both things to harmonious effect, then the result is a kind of magical alchemy. The ONE Yacht & Design is the voice of that vital aspect. We have always been convinced that leading by example is the only way to gain credibility, we have created a magazine with innovative and captivating graphics and layout that is a genuine departure from standard international megayacht magazine fare. Clever, meticulous and publishing-oriented art design enabled us to launch our product almost two years ago. Very much like a yacht whose seductively beautiful exterior lines clothe elegant, modern interiors, our magazine has earned the respect of designers and architecture studios which were won over by our concept. They in turn have placed their trust in us. The ONE Yacht & Design will, as always, be at the Cannes and Monaco Shows. So all the remains for me to say is “à bientôt!”

LEONARDO FERRAGAMO NAUTOR’S SWAN GROUP EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN by Bianca Ascenti

You’ve steered Nautor’s Swan to the 50-year waymark

What celebrations are planned for this 50th

having survived the very tough years of the world

anniversary? (in addition to a new 50’ Swan OD

economic crisis. What were (and are) the fundamentals

penned by Juan Kouyoumdjian)

of your corporate mission?

2016 is a major milestone for everyone in the Nautor’s Swan family because it’s the 50th anniversary of its foundation. We’ll be staging a series of events and activities all year long through ClubSwan, which brings together all Swan owners. Most definitely the most important of these will be the upcoming edition of the Rolex Swan Cup in Porto Cervo between September 11 and 18: we’ll be presenting the new ClubSwan 50 (3 models will be competing in the races) by Juan K and have a host of other exclusive surprises up our sleeve for our Owners.

I found exactly the same core values in Nautor’s Swan that set my own family firm apart: innovation, performance, endurance, comfort, style, quality and timeless excellence. I was proud to invest in this ‘legend’ and confident I could evolve the brand on an international level. Our values have not changed. We are embracing this 50-year milestone not as a finishingline but as a springboard to the future. Yachting has changed enormously over the last 50 years. How have you managed to reconcile tradition and innovation?

We have innovated continuously and adopted new technologies only after testing them extensively. That kind of approach is very much part of the Finnish culture and so it wasn’t difficult to do. Nautor’s Swan also guarantees an excellent standard of service, refitting and brokerage. Yacht building, haute couture, hotels and a marina: what do all these seemingly very different business interests have in common? I have been lucky enough to play an active role in the evolution of iconic brands and the crossover between them has only boosted their intrinsic individual value. Underpinned by shared values of the likes of quality, innovation, consistency and reliability.

20

Superyachts: the boats you’re sending to Monaco and your plans for the future. The Maxis, not least the Swan 115 and the new Swan 95 (which splashes by the end of the year), are our take on the fast luxury superyacht for both bluewater cruising and racing. They combine, for example, the most advanced lamination techniques with maximum comfort. Three Swan 115s will be delivered this year and one will be on show at Monaco. But we aren’t stopping there: we have a 140’ megayacht project we’re also working on. Nautor’s Swan really is a guarantee of timeless excellence and is the perfect marriage of style, comfort and performance. Those are qualities I will be driving forward very strongly to ensure that Swan remains a leading builder and an iconic brand in the sailing world.

he Pershing 140 is more than just a new flagship, it’s the first aluminium superyacht in the brand’s three-decade

history and a celebration of that landmark anniversary. It will also be the first Pershing to build at the Group’s specialist steel and aluminium superyacht facility in Ancona. Equally, it ushers in a new design era for the yard despite preserving the signature Pershing styling cues. Its aggressive profile is underscored by composite inserts on the main deck. The forward section of the military-inspired hull was raised to incorporate the wide-body owner’s suite lending a sense of majesty to the yacht’s look. An automotive-style grille at the very front of the bow has a coupé feel to it, underscoring the edgy sportiness Pershing owners adore. Intriguingly, the external part of the newly-designed aft cockpit has been raised to create a mezzanine that connects directly to the beach club below, the upper deck and the inner area of the cockpit itself. Two side wings integrated in the superstructure also shield the cockpit lounge. Four guest suites include three double VIPs and one twin.

enned exclusively for Oceanco, the Colosseum is the new 86m superyacht from Team for Design Enrico Gobbi.

Her exterior styling more than lives up to her name as she is a truly monumental craft of genuinely bold proportions. In fact, the broad curve of her aft decks gives her the feeling of a Roman amphitheatre. Expansive glazing also melds interior and exterior, bringing the outside world right in. Another striking feature is a large and rather beautiful 19-metre glass-sided pool. Its location is deliberately high to guarantee absolute guest privacy, and the aforementioned glass sides feed into the overall design theme of maximum transparency. Just below is a wellness area with gorgeous water-level views through wide side windows. Distinctive all-black side balconies at both Master and VIP suite level create a signature styling motif too, while vertical windows for the VIP and guest cabins mimic the near-plumb bow in an automotive-type flourish. The 360° fly deck has a second pool surrounded by sun pads.

loating Life’s new M/Y K40 is currently in build at CCN - Cerri Cantieri Navali. The 40-metre Light Ice Class expedition yacht

project was developed by the Studio Sculli of Sarzana (studiosculli.com) for an American client who intends to tackle lengthy cruises both here in the Mediterranean and colder climes. Steel-hulled with an aluminium superstructure to comply with Light Ice Class requirements, the yacht has a modern, minimalist exterior look with extensive glazing in line with current trends as well as some traditional overtones. The fourth deck is entirely the owner’s while the galley and stowage are on a par with a 50-metre, and a near-seven-metre tender is housed in a midships garage. Something of an achievement in a 40-metre with GT of under 500. The interiors promise a mix of sobriety and light that will incorporate wood, lacquer and textiles. Because the yacht has such a long range, much attention was lavished on the crew quarters and galley design. The beach area includes a diving equipment area while the sun deck boasts al fresco dining and sunning areas, a BBQ and wet bar.

The all-aluminium WIDER 165’s design was crafted by Fulvio De Simoni and CEO founder and CEO Tilli Antonelli and the yard’s in-house design team to boost the owner’s contact with the sea, compared to yachts of a similar size. The 50-metre mirrors the Wider 150’s sleek lines, and amenities include a touch-and-go helipad, submersible and a beach club with covered pool. The Floating Launching System allows the stowage of very large toys including a Wider 32 tender and doubles as a saltwater pool when they are out and about. rank E.H. Neubelt has just launched the new “German Yacht Couture” concept hub, a strategic group of technical

designers and experts. The first project to result from its collaboration with his studio is the 103-metre “Planet 300 – World Commuter” for a very experienced owner. It provides interiors for a family of six plus two couples plus a further multipurpose children’s cabin that sleeps one to four. The idea is that the cabins are merely for sleeping, thereby giving more space to a large saloon and several cosy multipurpose lounges which can also be used as offices. The interior volumes are kept compact (comparable to a 55 - 60 m) to deliver massive deck space and lots of stowage space for service vehicles, toys and tenders. There’s even a jogging track and a 25-metre pool. The unusual beach club design was inspired by the privacy of the poolside gardens at South Beach Delano. fneubelt@aol.com

ot on the heels of its 90 and 92-metres, Zuccon SuperYacht Design has produced

an experimental 94-metre concept, TETI, a yacht that, despite seven decks, has a sporty, dynamic profile that is also sublimely timeless. Once again, the team strove to strike the perfect balance and flow between interior and exterior, a central tenet of its design philosophy along with delivering large volumes. The upper deck is a case in point. It is now the hub of al fresco life aboard, a role normally assigned to the aft and sun decks. There is a large al fresco dining and pool area on its aft terrace but a second area forward is an extension of the interior dining room and also works as a link between the al fresco lounge and second pool. A radical departure for an area normally dedicated to the technical rather than guests. The easy flow between exterior and interior allows full use of the space available while guaranteeing privacy to the owner and his guests.

ilv ia Galbiati is an architect and interior designer with vast experience in designing private luxury residences. Her studio deals with every phase of a project, from build to décor. However, 2016 saw Galbiati up her game once again. In fact, the designer launched her first capsule collection, Manuche, a compendium of small furnishings that cleverly meld a timeless classicism inspired by everything from Art Deco to the 1960s and 70s, with a very contemporary appeal. Flowing, harmonious lines mean that each piece will fit effortlessly into a whole host of differ-ent types of interior. The architect has a great eye for luxury materials and excellent craftsmanship – the key factors in creating a sense of exclusivity – and is clearly a perfectionist when it comes to detailing. Each piece owes its beauty and impact to astonishing artisanal skill in crafting the most exclusive materials: beechwood, ebony, burnished brass, bronze, steel, stone and textiles. Designed to bridge the gap between mass production and handcrafting, Capsule Manuche is also a collection that is very customisable when it comes to suiting clients’ personal tastes. 4.

Clothed in imposing explorer vessel lines, this 42-metre can go for 5,000 miles without pulling into port, ushering in a whole new chapter for Sanlorenzo, a yard that has always relished a challenge by DĂŠsirĂŠe Sormani pictures: Courtesy of Sanlorenzo

his

is a story of love at first sight. Of an American man who caught a single glimpse of a

beautiful Italian lady and fell head over heels in love. He dreamed of sharing his life with her, exploring the world together. Things happened very fast and soon the lovely Italian lady was making her way across the Atlantic to start a new life with her smitten American beau. Which all amounts to a very happy ending (or beginning!) for Moka, a gorgeous 42-metre and the lady in question. The on-spec five-decker glided down the slips at the Sanlorenzo yard in 2015, ushering in a whole new explorer chapter in the history of a yard that has been consistently raising its game since Massimo Perotti mapped out its new course a decade ago. But it’s no surprise that Moka’s owner saw her, liked her and bought her in something of a whirlwind romance because the Explorer 460, designed as it is to seek out and explore distant seas, has a series of talents that is turning the heads of owner after owner. Completed just a month before the MYS, Moka quickly proved on her arrival at the show that she was a brilliant expression of her New York owner’s personality and approach to life. Sanlorenzo delivered in full on each and every one of the owner’s highly specific and often quirky requests, not least his desire to have a collection of extra boats aboard. The resulting tender, speed, fishing and sailing craft range in size up to nine metres, and are stowed on the aft deck alongside various jet skis, sea bobs and windsurf boards. However, once they are cleared away, this area is vast and perfect for sunning as it is also kitted out with chic but comfortable Paola Lenti outdoor furnishings. Another feature is a large glass-walled counter-current infinity pool specifically requested by the owner, who is a sporty, outdoorsy type. One of his other great passions, in fact, is diving, as is clear from the beach club. That said, even less energetic guests will enjoy the latter’s sauna, steam room and, of course, wet bar. The interiors were entirely tailored to the owner’s lifestyle. Generous volumes make for an incredibly versatile layout and the design is very much in tune with Moka’s globetrotting character. Cleverly though, the resulting spaces are particularly cosy and intimate. Large windows meld seamlessly with the superstructure, flooding the interiors with light while referencing the yard’s identity. In typical explorer vessel style, the

saloon is accessed via the side walkway. A muted, mainly white and beige colour palette creates a sense of peaceful quiet while red and grey accents work well with the classic likes of sapele mahogany, brushed stained American white oak and teak. The décor is sober and contemporary with the big Italian designer names adding a subtle layer of sophistication. The sofas, for instance, are by Minotti, the chairs by Frog, the lamps by Floss and the porcelain tableware by Richard Ginori. Giorgetti, B&B, Azucena, Poltrona Frau and Kartell do their bit too. The sky lounge on the upper deck, on the other hand, is a wonderfully private bolthole. Bright, casual and classy, it is also a place to feel at one with the outside world. The owner’s love of all things Italian comes to the fore once again in the galley which is by Boffi, a long-time partner of Sanlorenzo. A centre island makes life easier for the crew and the charming mini herb garden was considered a must for whipping up Italian dishes. There are five guest staterooms in all, in addition to the owner’s suite on the main deck. All share an elegant yet cosy look. The owner’s dedication to a healthy lifestyle is also clear from the private gym, which includes a second counter-current pool and a steam room. There are two windows to watch the world go by during workouts but the space is dominated by a stunning painting by Italian artist Tatiana Villani, whose work is featured throughout the yacht. Despite his sportiness, the owner is also a great art lover, and Hungarian artist Peter Botos’s glass sculptures and Alice Ippolito photographs commissioned specifically to reflect Moka’s colour scheme, are just part of his extensive onboard collection. www.sanlorenzoyacht.com

hen we developed the explorer with Massimo Perotti and Antonio

Santella, the yard gave us very clear input. They wanted a new kind of boat that was superbly comfortable as a luxury yacht but as safe as a working vessel. It had to meet the demands of an owner who wanted to spend long periods aboard making his way to remote parts of the world in absolute comfort. It also had to combine the technical and aesthetic peculiarities of a commercial craft with the space of a luxury one while still retaining the Sanlorenzo family feeling and achieving a displacement of under 500 tons. The idea was in in line with a very specific Sanlorenzo diversification strategy begun with the 40 Alloy and the SD 92 and SD 122 semidisplacements, which were aimed at meeting modern owners’ increasingly specific demands. We combined the typical characteristics of the two very different worlds – commercial and pleasure. They take their lead from the vertical lines and raised walkways and deckhouses of the former, which are essential to guest safety in all kinds of sea conditions. The large open aft deck space is pleasure yacht-inspired and ideal for all kinds of toys (tenders, jet skis, sea bobs, windsurf boards, dinghy). It also doubles as an expansive guest relaxation area when the latter are not aboard. We put large windows in the hull too to draw light into the interior and allow guests enjoy the views. Working on such a blank canvas is the very best thing that can happen to a design studio, even though it brings its own challenges. Knowing the yard meant we were able to design lines that harked back to the Sanlorenzos. I think the result is what everyone wanted: a yacht that’s completely unlike any other. As always, however, it’ll be up to the market to prove us right.

64

The 460Exp’s captivating lines are inspired by those of large expedition vessels with the power and range to explore even the most remote and exotic corners of the world. That said, the design penned by Francesco Paszkowski (opposite) retains a Sanlorenzo aesthetic that makes it instantly recognisable

65

Interior Designer Sanlorenzo Sandro Chiavetta

T

he owner wanted the interiors of his Exp460 to exude comfort and relaxation in a very marine style in line with its long range vocation. In other words, he

wanted the interior to reflect the philosophy behind the exterior lines, which are a clear reworking of those of a traditional explorer, combined with a contemporary design featuring signature Sanlorenzo styling cues. The colour palette was suggested by the in-house style centre and maritime-inspired. We started from the classic russet of the mahogany and tried to create an attractive contrast with the more contemporary white oak. The idea was to create naturally warm tones. The palette is picked up too in the Alice Ippolito photographs adorning the various spaces: these are close-ups shot specifically for Moka and capture the beauty of Versilia’s nature. The yard also suggested using Peter Botos’s work, which is original and very good indeed. In fact, he’s gained quite a following from big collectors and people new to the market alike – they all adore the stunning beauty of his glass art. The fact that long periods would be spent aboard meant we created cosy, welcoming spaces with harmoniously alternating materials such as brushed white oak, sapele mahogany with brushed steel. The layout is extremely flexible. Because we had four more levels than on a conventional yacht of the same length, we were able to create two quite unusual spaces on the lower deck: a gym to starboard and an extra VIP stateroom to port which can also convert to a crew cabin on very long voyages. Good use was made too of the under lower deck where there is ample food storage and refrigeration as well as a laundry area.

66

The living areas are deliberately cosy and welcoming as both owner and guests will be spending extended periods aboard – here we have two views of the upper deck sky lounge. The interiors feature a cleverly balanced combination of brushed white oak, sapele mahogany and brushed steel. The furnishings are selected from the collections of the top Italian designers: sofas by Minotti, chairs by Frog and lights by Floss. Giorgetti, B&B, Azucena, Poltrona Frau and Kartell also add to the mix

oka really does usher in substantial innovations. She stretches 42 metres in length and has a beam of 9.2 but her volumes are enormous (the Exp460

moniker actually references her gross tonnage). But innovation is all part and parcel of Sanlorenzo’s philosophy: don’t forget that 10 years ago we built the 40Alloy, the first 40-metre with fold-away terraces. The 460 Exp is the product of our having the courage to create a different boat and present it to the market. It was designed two years ago and conceived a year before that. So the whole idea actually dates back four years. Getting to this point involves believing in an idea, investing money and being sure about what you’re doing. We achieved one of our fundamental goals with the 460Exp: it turned us into opinion makers on a market that is demanding more useable (and perhaps even less imposing) vessels. It’s been very well received by the market. In fact, we sold a further four after we presented it at the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show. The owner of the second 460 Exp saw Moka, fell in love with her and even offered to buy her, but in the end, his craft was delivered this spring and we’ll be taking her to Monte Carlo in September. The third and fourth are at an advanced stage in their construction. The keel of the fifth was laid recently too. The 460 Exp is very popular because of its flexibility. The interiors are easy to manage and the layout can be modified to suit because they are so roomy. In fact, aside from the owner’s suite and four guest cabins, there are also two other large spaces can provide another cabin, a family room or a nanny’s room that connects to the crew quarters. Last but not least, the galley can be moved down to the lower deck and we can include an owner’s suite with two studies and a very large walk-in closet as per the third example in the series. If this model were a car, it’d be a crossover, a seafaring SUV!

The two men were given a shared brief and a complete blank canvas to create the most sensational hypercar in the company’s history, a vehicle that will marry advanced racing aerodynamics with inimitable Aston Martin design. An area in which, to return to the present for a moment, the brand continues to rule. Anyone with any doubts on that score should definitely take a look at three of the latest masterpieces to purr through the gates of the Gaydon factory. The first is the DB11 unveiled not too long ago at the Geneva International Motor Show, the second the DB10 built specifically for the Bond film Spectre (Aston Martin has been the official car of the secret agent for half a century) with the third, of course, the Vanquish. Unanimously considered the definitive grand tourer, the latter is the very epitome of flawless design, technology, performance and craftsmanship with both Coupé and Volante (the latter being the new moniker for Aston Martin’s roadsters) absolutely peerless. The finest Aston Martin ever with a design that was a gift from the marque to its clients to celebrate its 100th year. A perfect 2+2 with a mid-front engine and rear wheel drive, the Vanquish is also a blistering thoroughbred of a car made entirely from aerospace-derived carbon-fibre and powered by a 48-valve 6-litre V12 that unleashes 576 bhp and 630 Nm of torque. On the road that means it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in a breathtaking 3.8 seconds and doesn’t top out until the speedometer hits 324 km/h. Sleek yet muscular, uncompromising yet astonishingly harmonious, this is an effortlessly stylish car with a fittingly sophisticated, contemporary livery palette that features unusual hues such as bronzes. www.astonmartin.com

[ CREATIVE MINDS: LUCA DINI ]

IT IS POSSIBLE TO RESTYLE AN ICON by Samuela Urbini

L

uca Dini is the creative brain behind a long, long list of yachts. He’s worked with the world’s most celebrated yards including

Amels, Benetti, Mondo Marine, Admiral, Isa, Mariotti and Cantieri di Pisa. Now, after 25 years at the nautical drawing board, the 49-year-old has accepted a challenge that brings with it both power and responsibility. He has, in fact, been given the task of reworking the Cantieri di Pisa’s legendary Akhir series, which itself changed the course of pleasure yachting. Designed in the 1970s by Professor Pierluigi Spadolini, of whom Dini himself was a student, the Akhir “was a revolutionary boat, a kind of Stargate. It made yacht design a genuine reality and even today you see its influences everywhere,” says Dini, visibly moved at the memory of seeing the craft take shape just after he joined Spadolini’s studio as a very young designer. Founded in Florence in 1996, Luca Dini Design has now extended its portfolio beyond the strictly nautical to civil architecture, private homes and aircraft. Even so, working on such a legendary craft is a source of enormous pride and

82

Dini feels that working on the new Akhirs is a real test. The series was originally penned by his mentor Pierluigi Spadolini and is considered a milestone in yacht design. The metaphorical baton has now been passed to Dini and its future is in his hands

[ CREATIVE MINDS ] inspiration: “It is possible to restyle an icon,” he tells us. Dini’s commission was not to design a unique craft from scratch but to create his own take on a model that is already so unique it has left its mark on history. A much trickier and more complex task than simply starting all over again. He is, however, a man of remarkable sensitivity and enthusiasm which, combined with his long experience both in Italy and further afield, made that seemingly Herculean task feasible. “The first thing we did was decide to retain the styling cues that mark out the identity of the series which we then updated to 2020. Our most important achievement was ensuring that it would be instantly recognisable from afar. Just like the Mini, the Fiat 500 or a Porsche. A Porsche is always recognisably a Porsche regardless of whether it was built in the 70s or today. That’s what we did with the Akhir, so our greatest focus was on the exterior lines.” The new Cantieri di Pisa 42-metre fairly bristles with novelty too. Although the yard previously only worked in wood and fiberglass, the Akhir features aluminium. It is also a semi-displacement rather than planing craft. Other firsts are for the Cantieri di Pisa are a second saloon on the

The spaciousness of the deck continues in the interior where sophisticated simplicity in the form of relaxing colours and a light style is the order of the day to instantly put guests at their ease. Warm, subtly rich French walnut is cleverly offset by white oak floors on which sofas, beds and even closets seem to float. The muted colour palette spans soft hues from pearly white to dove grey and various shades of brown. Sea Eagle is the first superyacht delivered by Royal Huisman to an Asian client. Her owner, Samuel Yin, is a Taiwanese businessman and philanthropist with ambitious plans for her that include a round the world voyage during which he will also race in whatever superyacht regattas he happens upon. Sea Eagle is splitting this season between the Mediterranean and the Baltic before weighing anchor for the Caribbean where she’ll take part in the 2017 St Barths Bucket Regatta. After that, it’s anyone’s guess where she will head. The sloop’s deckhouse and cockpit extend seamlessly into each other to provide guests with plenty of space. Cool colours and luxury Jim Thompson-upholstered sofas in the deckhouse are lifted still further, with light flooding in through the large windows around the conversation and dining areas and interior wheel area, creating a chill-out ambience. A door separates the deckhouse from the cockpit where tables, sofas and armchairs surround the central helm station and sail control area. Sea Eagle is very much a thoroughbred under sail and, unlike most pleasure yachts, guests and friends are not cut out of her working life by being consigned to a separate area, an approach developed to ensure that everyone aboard enjoys the pleasures of sailing in convivial comfort. Two steps down from the main deck aft is the beach deck, a wonderful spot to relax in the sun. The owner has private access from here to his open-plan fullbeam suite which includes a cabin with separate beds, separate office and lounge areas and a walk-in closet. In the deckhouse, a spiral staircase aft leads to two guest staterooms amidships while a forward stairs goes to the galley, a gym that converts to a third guest cabin and the crew area. The style throughout the yacht is wonderfully consistent with all the various spaces speaking the same visual language, adding to the sense of spaciousness. White dominates the deckhouse with French walnut providing an elegant counterpoint, but in the sleeping quarters this approach is turned on its head. Here, in fact, there are great swathes of walnut panelling featuring a distinctive height-enhancing vertical grain alternated with light upholstery and birch detailing. The furnishings, light sources and finishes may all be in a similar vein in the various staterooms, but paintings hung on the walls add a sense of individual colour, lending each its own original identity. www.royalhuisman.com

his project was sold as a pre-engineered solution, a fantastic way for clients to speed up the build process while still obtaining a yacht with a fantastic pedigree. We worked

with Royal Huisman and Frers to produce the bones of a working, stylish yacht that clients can personalise. Sea Eagle is a well-balanced, practical, spacious yacht. Many boats on the water are ‘fashion-led’ but this yacht falls into that overly-used category of ‘timeless’. In 10 years’ time, she will still look current and this is very appealing to today’s customers. All the key features of a great yacht are built into the DNA of Sea Eagle. All the eye line issues, circulation routes and flow concepts are dealt with at an architectural level, so the client can decorate the interior in the knowledge that the yacht will still function and perform perfectly. Designing yacht interiors at the level we do is very technical and you need to understand structure and servicing. The lighting is very carefully designed with each spotlight being specified with its own particular lens/ filter and spread. LED lighting is now a specialised field and you need to understand the way the light reacts to different materials and surfaces to achieve fantastic results. To me, natural light is always the cornerstone of every project, but it is a delicate balance with the exterior of the yacht. In Sea Eagle we introduced light to the aft owner’s cabin and the fantastic saloon which floods the forward and aft lobbies with light. At the end of the day, the merging of the technical and the artistic is what makes a successful project. We worked closely with Royal Huisman and Frers to make the interior as efficient as possible. A yacht may be the most expensive real estate our clients will ever purchase so, where possible, spaces should have multiple uses and rooms should ‘borrow’ visually from other rooms to make spaces feel bigger than they are. There is certainly an art to creating a light, airy feel onboard, but also a lot of technical attention to detail that our clients will never see (the real sign of a successful project!). Thomas Edison’s famous comment that ‘genius is one per cent inspiration and 99 per cent perspiration’ is certainly true of yacht design.

Mr. Yin was extremely decisive. He kept to a pre-agreed protocol where we have contractual time lines for decisions and approval. This reduced the number of required meetings and left mr. Yin to visit the yard not out of necessity but rather that he could visit for the sheer pleasure of watching his dream become a reality. From a technical and constructive point of view the opening transom with drop down tender ramp (hydraulically-lowered stern slipway ramp) was the largest engineering challenge. A 5,20 meter tender is oversized for a yacht of 43 m. Tender excursions and general explorations will be enhanced with this large tender. On board the innovation adopted is a less is more approach. In these times when everything seems possible, Sea Eagle and her owner adopted a need to have rather than a nice to have methodology. She is designed and built around proven systems that meet this methodology.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! 104

Yachts and the arts have close links. New works by talented artists sail on board sumptuous megayachts, purchased by passionate connoisseurs who create a connection between two apparently very different worlds. Their drive and dedication inspire them to hold events and exhibitions that create a platform for an interchange of ideas

many aficionados, their mission is art. One of them is Lia Riva (daughter of Carlo, who is also father to a breed of motorboats that have helped shape Italy’s nautical history). She is also a living link between the nautical industry (as president of the Monaco Boat Service, the exclusive dealer in France for these legendary speedboats) and the art world. Lia, who plays a crucial role in the Association of Friends of the Museum of Monaco, is a supporter of contemporary talent and organises various charity events. “I love art. It’s a necessary part of our existence. I do everything I can to support it. As well as finding patrons who can contribute to the life of the museum, I organise exhibitions that create an outlet for new artists. We hold them in the Tunnel. My father created this in 1959 with an explosion in the rock, and now it’s become an evocative venue for exhibitions and cultural activities to bring our clients closer to the art world”. The Italian and German companies are now the jewels in the crown of the same group which is helping imbue their historic creative traditions with a more contemporary, innovative appeal. IN THE NAME OF TRADITION The sea is his natural element and fish is the star ingredient in all his restaurants. The One meets dynamic culinary radical Moreno Cedroni by Marta Bernasconi

M

oreno Cedroni was born in Ancona and continues to pursue his hugely successful, multipronged career in the Marche region.

A pioneer of raw fish cuisine in Italy and the inventor of the ensuing “susci”, he now holds two Michelin stars and owns three restaurants, as well as having written several cookery books. From a prodigiously talented youngster he has grown into a truly great “auteur” chef. But where did this love of cuisine come from? “It’s been there since I was born. My grandmother and mother’s cooking started it off and my passion really just burgeoned every day. Despite the fact that I’d trained as a long distance captain in a nautical academy, fate brought me back to gastronomy when I was 20 and I opened Madonnina del Pescatore”. That passion combined with an innate entrepreneurial spirit and some fortuitous encounters made his vocation clear: “When I was doing unpaid work experience with Ferran Adrià in 1999, I could really feel my passion developing and knew I had to express it very strongly”. Cedroni was an instant hit with his dynamic, quirky and innovative approach to food, a style reflected in his restaurants. “I think it’s important to offer quali-ty without formality. Everything has to revolve around the customer,” he says. This desire goes hand-in-glove with an insistence on using authentic ingredients. That said, Cedroni hasn’t stuck to the traditional haute cuisine route: “Everything starts with tradition. That’s like an umbilical cord - I could never be where I am now without it. But then I travelled and got to know new gastronomic worlds, and that all fused to perfection with my roots and helped make my work contemporary”. Moreno Cedroni’s three restaurants - La Madonnina del Pescatore in Marzocca, the Clandestino Susci Bar in Portonovo

and Anikò in Senigallia – are all right on the water too. A deliberate choice: “The sea has been my life since the day I was born and I couldn’t live without it. Its smell, its colours really get you hooked…and my favourite colour is blue! I also cooked with ocean yachtsman Giovanni Soldini on his boat as we sailed from Barbate to Madeira using just his gimballed stove and pressure cooker!” The One asked Cedroni to create a special onboard lunch recipe for our readers. His response was typically generous: “Looking at my own tradition and the Soldini adventure, I would suggest a fish stew flavoured with star anise to give it a flourish.” He produced a wonderful fish stew recipe that serves four. “To make the stew base, place 50g of extravirgin olive oil, 5g of chopped garlic and 20g of chopped white onions in a pan. Then slosh in 20g of vinegar and fry until the latter has cooked off. Add 300g of tinned San Marzano tomatoes, breaking them up with your hands, and follow with a whole star anise. Simmer for around 15 minutes and season with salt to taste. In the meantime, lightly oil another pan and add four pieces of fish of around 20g apiece (e.g. turbot, monkfish tail, gurnard), four shelled raw prawns, a few clams and mussels. Then add the stew base, salt to taste, cover and cook over a low heat for around 10 minutes. Last but not least, at the end of the cooking time, finish the dish off with four slices of bass, some parsley and a grind of white pepper. Serve with bruschetta. To drink, I’d recommend a bottle of Lacrima di Morro d’Alba dei Conti di Buscareto, served at 15°”. Our thanks to Chef Cedroni. Now come on, everyone, get cooking!

Even the bridge has a horse-shoe-shaped sofa forward. The exterior décor is classic maritime fare with wicker furnishings and marine motifs on the cushions. What does change – and regularly – is the colours used, shifting from cream, to deep blue and coral. This continues inside where, it has to be said, the mood of the yacht changes completely. The simplicity of the exterior, in fact, gives way to astonishingly opulent interiors awash with gleaming mahogany furnishings, marble and onyx floors (gold Calacatta with yellow Siena and black Marquina inlay), gold leaf and crystal detailing, brocades, velvets, mirrors, rugs, carpets, silks, mosaics. Needless to say, Made in Italy skill is to the fore - the sumptuous sofas and seats are by DL Decor and Zanaboni, while Baldi, Lumis and Sigma provided the luxury light fittings. The main deck is where guests get their first taste of Gazzella’s interiors in the form of her immense and quite magnificent saloon which is flooded with natural light and separated from the dining area (maple table with maple inlay) by a series of low units, to create a sense of visual continuity. Forward is a large galley with dumbwaiter that goes to the bridge. Next, to starboard, comes the main lobby, which has an inlaid floor, and the stairs leading up to the bridge deck and down to the lower one. It is a masterful piece of craftsmanship with a wrought iron bannister and mother-ofpearl and gold leaf-decorated walls by Zanin of Venice. A lift connects all four of Gazzella’s decks. Further forward on the main deck are the VIP stateroom and finally, the ruby and gold owner’s suite, which has its own office, walk-in closet and two bathrooms featuring honey onyx trim and wonderful Sicis mosaics. Four other double guest cabins, all in different colours, are on the lower deck with the crew quarters. Moving upwards, the sky lounge on the bridge deck is much less formal than the main saloon - guests can enjoy breakfast or chill out in front of the 65” TV surrounded by wonderful blue-veined-Azul Macauba marble. The captain’s cabin is on the same deck and connects directly to the high tech bridge – the owner specifically requested the very latest technology and best satellite, internet and entertainment equipment. “We want to feel at home” was his deceptively simple brief. However, it is worth noting not just the style of the interiors but the exquisite carpentry and quality materials used aboard to produce a yacht that is unique of her kind. That said, Gazzella won’t be doomed to a life in port. Her seasoned owner chose her specifically so that he would feel at ease as he explored the world aboard. Built from high resistance steel and aluminium to comply with Lloyd’s Register specifications, this 50-metre promises to eat up the miles with easy confidence at a stately but unstoppable 12 knots. www.codecasayachts.com 118

The Interior Designer Paola Spano

T

he owner wanted an elegant yacht that he’d feel at home aboard, so we had to create spaces that would mirror his tastes, satisfy all functional requirements and guarantee

maximum comfort. We wanted the interiors to be “majestic, rich, opulent and welcoming” so we took our inspiration from the palaces of the nobility. In fact, there are various references to the Louis XV style in the sinuous lines and rich, luxury materials: wood inlays, gold leaf decoration, damask and interplays of marble. In certain areas, such as the stairwell, for example, we went for more contemporary, stylised references but they are just as impactful. The furnishings – specific pieces requested by the client excluded – were made by Stilnavi. The ceilings are white-painted wood with polished mahogany cornices. In some of the spaces, we’ve added mirrors which make them seem larger. There are custommade Ege carpets in the saloons, all the cabins and the hall on the lower deck. The most complex area to do was the spectacular stairs linking the decks because of their curvature and the very fragile material used to trim them (mother-of-pearl and gold leaf). Gazzella is a majestic yacht with imposing volumes but her forms are simple and unambiguous (a signature of Codecasa’s Vintage series). It is those clean lines that allow such an easy dialogue between interior and exterior, in fact. Gazzella is unique– her volumes are much larger than a conventional 50-metre. Her layout is rational but was moulded around the client’s needs. When you’re designing a boat, technical requirements have to meld with aesthetic demands because while furnishings make the initial impact, it’s equally the case that what’s behind them (the electrical and hydraulic plant and air-conditioning) has to work to perfection and meet specific standards.

The stairs that link the main deck with the lower deck and bridge are a spectacular piece of craftsmanship. They have a wrought iron bannister and gold leaf and mother-of-pearl walls in addition to a Calacatta marble floor with yellow Siena and black Marquina marble inlay. The guest cabins are all similar in style but different in colour scheme

The Shipyard Fulvia Codecasa

M

y father, Fulvio Codecasa, wanted to take a step back in time with the Vintage Series and return to the beauty of the past, albeit in a

modern context. He did so to create timeless lines that would appeal to all kinds of tastes. The decision to build ‘on spec’ is our secret weapon really – we start construction in line with our own schedule even when there is no buyer. When a buyer does come on the scene, the yacht is already at an advanced point and so delivery waiting times are shorter. From a company perspective this approach means we never have to halt production and can guarantee our workers and subcontractors regular employment. The Vintage series is aimed at clients who want to take ownership of their time without having to rush around and also at those who want to simply enjoy the sea in a refined setting that is exceptionally safe and comfortable. There’s no specific market as such: these yachts, like all Codecasa’s craft, are fully personalisable. They may appeal more to people with traditional tastes but that’s something that isn’t confined to any particular nationality.

azzella’s owner is an expert, passionate client and he chose Codecasa because he knew the

brand well, having chartered its yachts through the Ocean Independence agency. He was struck by the quality and finish as well as the comfort and amenities he enjoyed aboard. On his first visit to the yard, the new Codecasa 50 Vintage Series was the only model for sale of the size he wanted and on-spec construction was already underway. He decided to grab the opportunity and buy it for two reasons: he wanted to have a boat in time for the summer season and also to be able to personalise the interior to his own requirements. He was very happy with the end result because the yard created just what he wanted in terms of both design and spec. The owner studied the yacht’s designs very carefully with the yard’s representatives to guarantee that construction would be perfect and tailored to his needs. Attention to detail in the interior combined with the classic lines of the Vintage Series make Gazzella a truly graceful yacht that’s timeless and perfect for family cruises. The owner sailed aboard her last season and will do so again very soon, mostly the Mediterranean as he has a preference for the French Riviera.

I have great responsibility to make sure that it helps people in the most difficult time of their life, both for the family and the doctors with all their staff. This is responsibility. Architects have a duty: to do good things”.

When we consider the name, perhaps it was inevitable that Silver Yachts would produce a “silver yacht sooner or later. And here she is in all her glitter. She is slender and fast. aboard invariably develop with the sea. The same versatile thinking reappears in the saloon where the freestanding sofas, armchairs and tables can be rearranged into different groupings, and a sliding glass door can separate off a section for use as a reading or TV room or a children’s play area. On the lower deck, the beach club which has a sauna, steam room, massage area, gym and beauty salon, connects to the water-skimming swim platform. The choice to stow Silver Fast’s two slivery custom tenders forward beneath the helipad. rather than in a conventional stern garage, means that enormous space is available to the beach club and its amenities, turning it into one of the central focuses of onboard life. The styling of the exteriors and interiors meld at the specific request of the owner who asked for warm, sophisticated, relaxing spaces in tune with the exterior’s clean lines. Colours and materials are wielded with great skill to create an effortlessly seamless style. The lustrous sliver of the hull is brilliantly matched by the warm hues of teak and the grey and white of the soft furnishings outside. Paola Lenti’s powder blue armchairs lend a nice touch of colour too. The warm grey and chocolate brown is thanks to natural toned aniline leather, which develops an attractive patina after a while. The walls are panelled in either matt-varnished teak or painted with a multi-layered silver lacquer. Some cabins are entirely trimmed in chamois leather while handmade leather tiles have been used for the stairwell and certain floors. Handwoven silk carpets in warm, muted grey with a craquele pattern adorn the main saloon too. Vain Interiors also custom-designed many other features such as door handles, porthole covers, leather tassels and tables to reflect the same materials that appear elsewhere aboard, including the leather used for the wall panels. The freestanding armchairs, sofas and chairs are by B&B Italia, Paola Lenti, Flexform, Cassina and Minotti while all the textiles aboard are by Hermès.

The Interior Designer Andreas Holnburger/Vain Interiors

T

he owner’s input was to create an interior that reflected the clear lines of the exterior design. The interior was to be cool but warm and relaxed.

Our aim is always to create spaces where people instantly feel comfortable and are not scared or overwhelmed by too many colours or too much gloss. We always try to see the spaces we create as overall spaces with a certain theme. This is reflected in a well-chosen colour scheme and all the materials have to have a match in another area as well. To solve the light issue, we used leather venetian blinds on all the windows, so the natural light can be adjusted at will. We always reduce ceiling lights and use them only for accent lighting. The use of table lamps and even floor lamps creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere for guests. The indirect lighting at the window covers and beneath cabinets adds the subtle twist of luxury you would expect onboard a super yacht. The colour palette was quite restricted aboard. We used a lot of natural finish materials, contrasting them with polished surfaces. We designed some accessories such as door handles, porthole covers, leather tassels, tables, desks etc. for Silverfast but to get an overall look, we used the same materials, leathers etc., as on the wall panels, for example. All the upholstery and chairs are from Italian furniture companies, as they have the best experience and expertise in comfortable seating. To deal with space problems, we put storage in even the smallest corners with hidden access through secret doors or cabinet doors. Because of the very slim lines and shape of the vessel, we always could use the space beneath the windows for cabinets, so we did this everywhere, even in the corridors. As we did the design concept for the exterior furniture and the design for the exterior bars as well, we tried to create a connection between the indoor and exterior areas. The colour of the hull itself even reflects the grey colour scheme from the interior or vice versa.

144

A few meticulouslyselected materials recur again and again in the interiors, lending a sense of consistency and creating a welcoming, intimate ambience. Warm colours and a contemporary layout were the central focus for the project. Natural light is cleverly filtered so that there is no feeling of harshness or glare. Venetian blinds also allow guests to control the levels at will

ilver Fast is the fourth and latest superyacht to be built by Australia’s premier luxury yacht builder SilverYachts. After

the successful sale of the 77m Smeralda, the company’s owner decided to construct a sister ship, based on the most efficient 77m aluminium hull ever, but with a striking new silver grey paint scheme, and a different interior layout and design, plus a number of interesting technical improvements. Silver Fast was built as a demonstrator for the shipyard and, as the owner of the shipyard is an experienced yachtsman, he also invested in the construction of the yacht, but with a mission to market and sell the yacht upon completion. Generally speaking, building an all-aluminium ocean-going superyacht this size is pretty unique. Most vessels of this size are built in steel, which is much easier. The shipyard invested a lot of time and effort in the design, in addition to providing its know-how in all-aluminium superyacht building. The result is a very successful product that can go anywhere, including very shallow waters where steel vessels cannot venture. There are over 300 improvements in the design and construction of Silver Fast, with respect to Smeralda. The engineering team achieved record-breaking levels in noise and vibration reduction especially. At 18 - 20 knots, the yacht is quiet and vibration-free, making her perfect for fast, fuel-efficient long overnight passages with low noise levels of around 40/45 decibels. SilverYachts is currently building its largest vessel to date: 85m Silver Loft.

or 20 years Lissone, in the heart of the area of Italy known as “The cradle of furniture”, has been home to a

company that can provide personality, uniqueness and value to a wide variety of living spaces. Decorazioni D’Aietti makes decorations and finishings for interiors in styles ranging from classic to contemporary, embodying the creativity of architects and individuals. It’s the kind of entrepreneurial enterprise that has helped Made in Italy excellence to achieve its current high status in the world of decoration as well as in the design furniture sector. “The decorator’s task”, says Gianbattista D’Aietti, “is to highlight those interiors where the furniture, designer or otherwise, is located. The background becomes a protagonist in the lived space alongside the furnishings, to a point where, in my opinion, it’s no longer possible to think of them separately”. D’Aietti is known for a distinctive offer that is inspired by a personal passion. “In recent years I have focused my attention on what I like to call “jewel walls”, walls decorated with unusual, refined styles and materials, the ideal solution for enhancing yacht interiors and homes with an intense personality and charm. These walls are the product

Decorazioni D’Aietti’s “Jewel Walls” have won it an international reputation. The back-ground becomes a fundamental element, alongside furniture and accessories, in enhanc-ing interiors and making them unique

[ FINE CRAFTSMANSHIP ]

Creating such sophisticated, elaborate decorations is what makes artisanal skills and experience such a vital factor. A deep knowledge of materials, an ability to interpret owners’ wishes and constant experimentation play a fundamental role in creating work of this high standard

that’s requested most. People want to create a corner of total perfection that will harmonise with the other spaces while standing out as a “corner for mental escape”. It should come as no surprise that the most popular subjects are those inspired by Far Eastern tradition. Then there are walls with a material, textural effect created through the use of organic materials that respect the environment and health”. A team of expert collaborators enables Decorazioni D’Aietti to respond to the needs of clients in Italy and elsewhere. Looking back at the pieces produced over the past few years, Gianbattista D’Aietti mentions the collaboration with Tiziana Vercellesi. “Working with this great professional designer enabled me to make a number of decorative basrelief pieces for yachts, with various subjects natural settings, city views, floral details and marine environments. Making these panels let me experiment with high levels of artisanal and decorative skills, my own and those of my collaborators. It was a complex team effort, entirely handmade, with extremely satisfying results”. At the moment D’Aietti is completing the interior finishings for select buildings in the centre of Milan, as well as the restoration of fake marbles in a large period villa on the shores of Lake Como. What about his passion for yachts? “I’ll never give it up, it’s still there, and that’s partly down to my roots on the island of Pantelleria. It’s a place of indescribable beauty, and ever since I was a child this passion has been nourished by memories and fragments of family stories, and lies at the heart of my love for the sea”. Clients coming to Decorazioni D’Aietti have one thing in common. As the owner explains, “My clients may be diverse but they are linked by one common denominator - a love for their own space, be it a home, office, business or yacht. This love is expressed by being justifiably demanding. I put the same love and quest for high standards into my work, and this has inspired the words that define our spirit: ‘Think about beauty, surround yourself with harmony’”. www.decorazioni-daietti.it

is genuinely unlike anything any other designer has produced so far. Bozca describes Black Swan as honed “to captivate owners with an eye for style, luxury, technology and, most importantly, travelling by sea”, adding that it “redefines the terms experience, style and luxury”. Sharp and sleek in the extreme, the concept was inspired, says the up-and-coming Turkish pen, by “the power and grace of an arrow” but actually looks like some fantastic bird of prey from another planet come to rest on the waves. It is built in Vergiate (Varese), Italy, but a second production line will go into operation in Philadelphia by the end of the year. Technologically, the AW169 positively bristles with cutting-edge solutions. Its engines, for instance, can also be used to power a series of systems on the ground, including the air-conditioning, without the rotor being activated. The avionics suite comprises three large liquid crystal touch screens that are highly intuitive, comprehensive and suitable for night flying. Advanced satellite navigation and traffic and terrain avoidancesystems come as standard while the rotor is designed to drastically reduce noise levels. The AW169 costs around six million dollars.

wentyfour years have passed since Vikal launched two 7.5-metre tenders

penned by the great late Jon Bannenberg for the Lürssen 72-metre MY Coral Island. In the interim, the Australian yard has not rested on its laurels, working assiduously to become one of the world’s leading builders of luxury custom 70- tenders for 70-metreplus megayachts. It has, in fact, splashed over 50 at this point, spanning the spectrum from limousines to car carriers and even a semi-custom, covering all the main market demand segments in the process. Beautifully handcrafted from luxury materials to mirror the styling of their mother ships, Vikal tenders are stunning megayachts in miniature, turning even the shortest hop ashore into a mini-cruise. The latest additions presented by founder and CEO, Gunnar Vikingur, measure 44 and 41 feet respectively. The former, a 12-metre penned by Patrick Banfield, features ultra-sophisticated Terry Disdale interiors that are a delicate triumph of coloured leather, luxe textiles, glass and teak. It is also the largest tender ever to fit in the hold of a motoryacht (max. speed 36 knots). The second is an 11.25-metre that’s a lot sportier and more powerful with a

Even the tiniest details of all the spaces have been lovingly planned and executed. Lighting is pivotal to picking out and highlighting the results of that meticulous approach and to creating an atmosphere of welcoming elegance. Milan’s Michelinstarred Innocenti Evasioni restaurant has now also opened at The View complete with open kitchen (top)

can be used to create separate meeting rooms, etc. The lighting is beautifully designed and in the communal areas on the ground floor is used to highlight the profiles of the white furnishings. On the upper floor, it is much mellower to compliment the natural warmth of the teak. The furnishings and fittings are mostly by the leading Italian names: Flexform sofas and armchairs, Technogym machines and lights by Artemide, Foscarini, Penta and Oluce. There is even a spa complete with a revitalising Himalayan Salt room, a fitness centre and, of course, a restaurant with Michelin-starred chefs. The most delightful way to feel “all at sea.” www.theviewlugano.com 192

The entire concept centres around space, light, proportions and material. The architect strove to find luxury in simplicity. Sliding screens disappear into the floors and wall, creating different environments as required and improving the functionality and versatility of all the spaces

The BR1 Fleet Show is a now-annual event recently staged for the second year to introduce brokers to the charter yachts managed by BR1, a Maltese company specialising in the technical management and refitting of 60’ to 135’ sailing yachts. Staged for the first time in 2015, the BR1 Fleet Show was originally planned to take place every second year but the first edition proved so successful and drew so many requests from brokers that hadn’t been able to attend, that it was decided to hold it again in 2016. A prime contributor to the smooth organisation and success of the BR1 Fleet Show is West Coast International represented by manager Maura Zane. The BR1 Fleet Show’s aim is to allow brokers tour several boats in one visit. In fact, they stay aboard the various craft for either part of the event or its entire duration. Living aboard gives the brokers an in-depth insight into both the yachts and their crews, something simply not possible at traditional shows. This means that they can make more expert recommendations to their clients based on actual personal experience. Three sailing yachts – Whale, Tess and My Lotty - were presented at the 2016 edition, which took place between May 16 and 19 at the Marina Villa Igiea at Palermo in Sicilia. BR1 will not only be responsible for managing of the latter’s crews but also their maintenance and any refitting work required. Whale is a just-refit 60’ catamaran with a three-person crew while Tess is a high performance sailing yacht with wonderfully tasteful, refined interiors and a three-person crew. Lastly, My Lotty is a Benetti sailer with a four-person crew that performs superbly under sail yet provides her guests with all the space and comfort of a motorsailer. MyBa brokers from the United States, England, Italy and Turkey took part in the event. Representatives of Sangiorgio Shipping and Luise Associates also attended and held short update meetings for both brokers and crews. The main stages of the event were as follows: - 16/05: arrival of first brokers followed by gala dinner at the Grand Hotel Villa Igiea hosted by main sponsor VISTRA Marine. - 17/05: all the brokers enjoyed an excursion to the island of Mozia where they are welcomed by Mariaenza Carollo, Secretary General of the Whitaker Foundation, for an exclusive visit of the island’s museum. This was followed by an evening party aboard the catamaran Whale in the Marina during which Signora Ravidà of the eponymous quality oil company presented its products which this year will feature aboard all of the BR1 Ltd-managed yachts. - 18/05: everyone boarded the cat Whale for a sail along the Gulf of Mondello coast and lunch at anchor. On their return, they were met by the AUDI Palermo’s sales manager, Mr. Gaetano Giordano. The event was also made possible by the support of our technical and media partners and we would like to say a special word of thanks to the following in particular: VISTRA marine, Audi, Luxwing Airline, Fondazione Whitaker, Marina di Villa Igiea, Sangiorgio Shipping, Luise Associates, The One Yacht Design and Nautica Superyacht.
