The property, a national historic landmark and architectural gem built in 1851, is the imaginative transformation of the storied Charles Street Jail into a 298-room luxury hotel. The hotel offers sweeping views of the city skyline and the Charles River with five distinct food and beverage venues and 6,000 square feet of meeting space. The Liberty Hotel welcomes each visitor with its rich history, a team of passionate New England natives, beautifully-appointed rooms and the latest in modern technology to create an unrivaled guest experience.
The Liberty Hotel Experience Arriving guests ascend one level to the floor of the central rotunda. Lit by huge circular windows and the cupola above, the rotunda is ringed by upper level balconies connecting guest rooms and conference areas. The interior features exposed brick walls, and in several locations, the original cells remain and are incorporated into the interior design. Patrons may enter the hotel’s ground floor restaurant via a separate doorway, one through which prisoners were once transferred from paddy wagons to their cells. A second floor restaurant offers views of the central rotunda and the chance to sit among the former cell walls. Once a place where guards watched prisoners, today the rotunda is a place to “see and be seen.” The Liberty Hotel has four distinctive venues for dining anddrinks. CLINK. serves the freshest North Atlantic seafood, seasonal New England fare and delicious heritage meats. The dining room features vestiges of original jails cells and an open kitchen, while gold leather seats, butcher block tables and granite accents add to its contemporary style. Nightly, the Liberty Bar thrives with urban dwellers and hotel guests enjoying an energetic, social environment at the heart of Boston’s nightlife scene. Located within the spectacular 90-foot lobby rotunda of the hotel, the popular bar offers an answer to those searching for a reinvigorating place to gather at night. Scampo located on the first floor, sets the stage for housemade breads baked in a tandoori oven, pastas that surpass red sauce norms and entrées that turn simple ingredients into extraordinary experiences. Alibi, on the entry level, is housed where the jail’s original cells once stood. The seductive space flirts with its history by hanging amusing celebrity mug shots on its walls, and features sophisticated cocktails, leather sofas and a coveted outdoor space.
The Liberty Hotel offers 6,000 square feet of flexible meeting space to meet the needs of groups between 10 and 350. The dramatic ballroom features the latest technology and can accommodate 225 for a formal sit down dinner or 300 for theatre-style presentations. Other meeting rooms, ranging in size from 415 to 1050 square feet, offer more intimate settings for groups of 10 to 120. All have dramatic windows, filling rooms with natural light.
