PLATON DANIEL PORTFOLIO METTLER LANDSCHAFTSARCHITEKTUR Competition Platz der Lüftbrücke Berlin, 2018, Finalist With the change in the use function of the Tempelhof Airport from a travel infrastructure to a mixed-use facility and a green leisure place, the public space in front the Airports entrance is subject to new use and meaning in the city. The proposal pushes to the limits the requirements of the Gartendenkmalshutz to transform the current introverted landscape garden in an open active new urban center. Pre-existing spatial features, the North-South and West-East road axis and the circular shaped building are taken as determinants for the geometric form. Visual connections, a topographic play, history of the site, the Luftbrücke monument, tree concept and three island, traffic re-organisation, urban furniture and a design reintepration of the Ehrenhof are worked as a single coherent place.

Migration, gentrification, inequality and isolation are one of the multitude existential challenges that our societies are faced with. To change the perspective towards an alternative sustainable future, it is necessary that social cohesion is approached in an interdisciplinary way. Our investigation of the Campus Charlottenburg proposes to read the different actors and disciplines involved in the process of social cohesion around three themes: learning from nature, strengthening communities and alternative economic model. Better network, communication and understanding are crucial. The Citizen Science Pavilion will be a medium for them and a new gateway to the city.

PLATON DANIEL PORTFOLIO TU BERLIN MSC Design Studio I, “Architectures of Assembly” Berlin, 2018 “Tempel der Gesundheit” The project explores an architecture solution for a Temple that can embrace all the ambiguous ideas that are found in contemporary society regarding spirituality, by shifting its association from traditional cultural practices to actual ritualistic experiences. The projects theme is rooted culturally in the context. It looks on a past quality of the site - the culture of bathing, today vanished and only present as a memory in the form of a street name Badstraße and an architecture the ex-bathhouse Luisenbad. The design process takes this theme and transforms it into an architecture, whose type is taken from the rich heritage of water architecture of the South-Asian continent.
