Old Waco Road Construction

Roadway construction has officially began for the

reconstruction of Old Waco Road from Tarver Drive/Jupiter Drive to Riverside Trail. This is the beginning of a year and a half long project with this initial stage of construction ending in September 2024. Old Waco Road in this area will remain open for construction and driveways will be accessible. Riverside Trail will be closed to through traffic, but local traffic will have access to Riverside Trail. Drivers should use caution in the area and pay attention to all traffic control devices.

Fixed-Based Operator (FBO) Terminal at the DraughonMiller Central Texas Regional Airport on November 1. This state-of-the-art facility is set to enhance the aviation experience by providing a wide range of premier services to private and corporate aircraft operators. The new FBO Terminal aims to create an unparalleled level of convenience and luxury for pilots, passengers, and crew members. With a strong commitment to exceptional customer service, the City of Temple is dedicated to delivering a seamless and enjoyable travel experience for all visitors.

Holiday Light Contest & Tour The City of Temple is hosting its 2nd Annual Merry & Bright Holiday Lights Tour & Contest. This is a great opportunity for the public to enjoy a safe and fun night out with family and friends to view the festively decorated homes around the city. Selections for your favorite stop for the contest will take place from December 1 to December 18. The interactive digital map will be available online through January 1, 2024. 77th Annual Christmas Parade Join us in celebrating the time-honored tradition that has graced the heart of downtown Temple for over 75 years! The City of Temple proudly presents the 77th Annual Christmas Parade "An OldFashioned Christmas," a cherished holiday spectacle that stands as one of Texas' staple yuletide processions. The Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum

A Cast of Blues A celebration of Mississippi’s rich musical heritage, The exhibition A Cast of Blues features 15 resin-cast masks of blues legends created by artist Sharon McConnell-Dickerson, as well as 15 color photographs of performers and of juke joints by acclaimed photographer Ken Murphy. Now visitors of The Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum can experience the exhibition, A Cast of Blues, open until January 6, 2024. For more information, visit templerrhm.org. Coffee with a Cop The Temple Police Department will host Coffee With a Cop on December 2, 2023, at Bella Blue Café from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. This will also be an opportunity to donate a toy for the Blue Santa Toy Drive and enjoy good coffee and conversation with your Temple Police Officers. We hope you will make plans to come out and join us!

Holiday Traveling Safety Tips 1. Plan Ahead: Before you hit the road, plan your trip in advance. Know your route, including alternative routes in case of unexpected road closures or traffic jams. 2. Vehicle Safety: Ensure your vehicle is in good working condition. Check the tires, brakes, lights, and fluids. Carry a spare tire, jack, and basic tools. Make sure you have a full tank of gas before embarking on your journey.

Blue Santa Through Blue Santa, the Temple Police Department helps local families in need by partnering with residents and local businesses to collect gift donations in the form of toys and books.

3. Avoid Distractions: Keep your full attention on the road. Avoid texting, using your phone, or engaging in other distractions while driving. Distracted driving can lead to accidents.

Rescue Elves Rescue Elves is an annual program that provides gifts and necessary items to Temple families during the holiday season. Temple Fire & Rescue works directly with Temple ISD school counselors to identify families that may be in need of assistance with Christmas Gifts for their children ages 0-18. We encourage you to visit the listed locations to assist our annual Rescue Elves Program this holiday season. Each spot is decorated with a Christmas tree featuring Rescue Elves tags. Christmas Tree Recycling The City of Temple is offering free Christmas tree recycling from December 26 to January 8. Trees can be dropped off anytime at 3015 Bullseye Lane or 602 Jack Baskins Drive or be taken to Solid Waste Complex (2611 E. Ave. H) Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Live trees will only be accepted if they have been stripped of all ornaments and decorations. Residents can also leave the trees out for brush and bulk collection if they cannot make it to one of the two drop-off locations. 21

As we all know, cooking oils and fats can cause serious damage to our sewer systems and the environment when improperly disposed of. Veterans Day Ceremony The City of Temple hosted the 2nd Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on November 9 to recognize and honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The ceremony featured a performance from the Temple High School Choir, remarks from city officials, a presentation of colors from the Fort Cavazos Color Guard, and a keynote address from Colonel Tracy Michael, Commander of the 1st Medical Brigade at Fort Cavazos.
