Questions to Consider:

• Can they meet the Participant Expectations?

• Are they able to stay with the group and not run away when upset or overwhelmed?

• Our programs maintain set ratios and are not designed for one on one care.

• Is your child overwhelmed with loud noises?

• Programs can be loud at times.

Is your participant ready for CARD?

• Is your child comfortable when you are not present?

• Does your child warm up to new situations with new people?

Participant Expectations:

• Be Safe – Includes staying with the group, keeping hands and feet to themselves, following program rules.

• Be Respectful – Includes listening and following directions, using appropriate language, being kind to others, using equipment properly.

• Be Responsible – Includes using the restroom independently/no bathroom accidents, keeping track of personal items, telling the truth.

Important information for all camps:

• Participants must be fully potty trained, able to make transitions easily, and ready for an experience away from their families to be in the program.

• Each day, campers should bring a backpack filled with a hearty snack, nutritious lunch, plenty of water, and an extra pair of clothes.

• If there is not a specific registration deadline listed, registration will close at 5:00 PM on the Thursday prior to the Monday of camp, or once the camp is full, whichever comes first. Space is limited; participants are assigned on a first come, first served basis. Registration after the stated deadline is based on Supervisor approval.

• If the camp is full, you may add your child to the waiting list. If space becomes available, you will be contacted by phone or email. Camp fees are a flat rate and are not pro-rated for days not attended.

• What if my child needs assistance to participate in a camp? Clients of Far Northern Regional Center are able to submit an Accommodation Request Form. This can be found on our website, at www.chicorec.gov/inclusion.

• Requests for refunds, credits, or transfers must be made in person, by email or by phone, and received by Thursday at 10:00 AM prior to the camp start date. Please check dates closely. In the event CARD needs to cancel a camp due to low enrollment, inclement weather, or any other unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a full refund of the registration fee. Please refer to the program for additional information and exceptions. Refunds will be issued to the original form of payment.

Junior Giants (FREE!)

Junior Giants is a FREE, non-competitive, co-ed, baseball league that focuses on life skills using baseball as a vessel. Through each child’s experiences as part of a team, they will learn the Four Bases of Character Development – Confidence, Integrity, Leadership, and Teamwork – and the importance of Education, Health, Bullying Prevention, and Respect. The Junior Giants partnership between CARD and the SF Giants Community Fund, and all the volunteers that step up to help allows us to offer this amazing program.

In addition to baseball, CARD offers Softball divisions. The goal of the Softball program is to recruit more girls to play and retain them over the years. Both girls and boys are welcome to play softball or baseball. The Softball division features a larger ball (not, in fact, softer than a baseball), and softball-specific equipment.
