MAKING MEMORIES, INSPIRING PERFORMANCE NOT ALL PLAYHOUSE SQUARE “STARS” ARE ON STAGE!

The valuable group of Playhouse Square volunteers, known as the “RedCoats,” because of their red blazers, are comprised of 2,000 men and women of all ages and backgrounds, all of whom share a passion for the theater and a desire to give back to the community.

RedCoats believe so strongly in what Playhouse Square contributes to our community that they are willing to pledge their time and talents to every facet of Playhouse Square. Most volunteer at the 1,000+ performances we host each year — but many are also behind the scenes. What do RedCoats receive in return? They: …make new friends …make a contribution to the arts …feel appreciated …have fun as a valued member of the Playhouse Square “family” RedCoats must be able to make weekly commitments to volunteer 4 to 5 hours per shift. Matinee show crews may be scheduled anytime between 9 a.m. –5 p.m. Evening crews between 5:30 –11 p.m. Volunteers pick the best day and time to fit their schedule.

We are always looking for new volunteers to join the team! Playhouse Square expects the same high standards of professionalism from its volunteers as it does from its full-time staff members. More infor mation on becoming a RedCoat is available at playhousesquare.org/volunteer.

HELP US MEET THE CHALLENGE! Playhouse Square is committed to providing quality arts learning opportunities to enrich the lives of students, families, teachers and adults. The Playhouse Square Dazzle Awards, presented by Pat & John Chapman, recognizes excellence in Northeast Ohio high school musical theater programs and emphasizes the importance of the arts. Students participate in master classes and workshops throughout the year, as well as a week of intensive rehearsals leading up to the Dazzle Awards ceremony on Saturday, May 16.

Following the Dazzle Awards, two of the top students will represent Cleveland at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City in June 2020. Our goal for the Dazzle Challenge is to raise $25,000 by June 30, 2020 to help the program grow and thrive. An additional generous contribution will be made by long-time Trustee John Chapman and his wife Pat, who are committed to helping to provide inspiring and engaging opportunities through the arts.
