The Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Award is a structured youth development program, empowering all young Australians aged 14-24 to explore their full potential and find their purpose, passion and place in the world.

The Award is an internationally recognised program for young people, building their skills to equip them for life and work.

To achieve an Award, each young person must learn a skill, improve their physical well being, volunteer in their community and experience a team adventure in a new environment. All Participants are supported by a network of adult Award Leaders, Assessors, and Supervisors.

Experiences from PLC students

Duke of Ed really helped me step out of my comfort zone and buil perseverance and diligence. I created so many unforgettable memories during the adventure. The volunteering component allowed me to give back to the community, which was a rewarding experience.

The Duke of Ed program has been a really rewarding experience for me, as I have been able to visually track my progress in the skills and physical recreation sections, whilst also reaching out to a broader circle of people in my community.

Duke of Ed has taught me a lot about leadership and commitment and has motivated me to do things I wouldn't have tried if it wasn't for the program (e.g. seeking volunteer placements. The skills I've gained are also super applicable for studying at tertiary institutions and other future endeavours.
