DON’T BE LEFT WITH A COLD Because today’s home are nearly air-tight, it’s important to have a superior filtration system.
UV lights are affordable and can be installed in new or current HVAC systems. Your current or new HVAC system can help reduce bacteria in the air and the allergens that grow inside your HVAC system. By using UV lamps, particles and germs are destroyed and prevented from being recirculated to the air in your home. An Ultra-violet light can now be installed
BREATHE CLEAN The air inside your home might be the most polluted air you breathe all day. EPA studies show that even in the smoggiest cities, the air inside most Right At Home is usually at least ten times more polluted than the air outside. Reasons include Radon and carbon dioxide, as well as chemicals like formaldehyde used in making modern carpeting, drapery, and household cleaners. Add to this common airborne pollutants such as pollen,
viruses, dust and dust mites and damp areas where standing water can breed mold, mildew and other microbes. These can lead to eye irritation, sinus congestion, sneezing, runny nose, stuffiness, colds, flu, headaches, dizziness, outbreaks of allergies and asthma, sore throats, and various other respiratory ailments.
in most existing central HVAC systems and is a must for new system installation. This is definitely NOT a DIY project due the danger to electrical shock. For cleaner air, trust an Ultraviolet Treatment System from Ruud.

that environmentalists have coined a term for it—IAQ or Indoor Air Quality. Today’s homeowners need to become more aware of the importance of IAQ and what they can do about it. Your Ruud contractor can show you solutions from better filters to installing ultraviolet (UV) lights on nearly any central HVAC system.

Additionally, corn oil’s high smoke point makes it perfect for a variety of cooking styles, including stir-frying, sautéing, grilling and even baking. See recipes on pages 10-11.

TIME FOR A NEW HEAT PUMP? Investing in a heat pump with better technology and efficiency will save you hundreds of dollars every year.
I
f you live in an area where mild winters are the norm, a heat pump just might be for you. Heat pumps are the most efficient form of electric heating in moderate climates. Because they move heat rather than generate heat, heat pumps can provide equivalent space conditioning at as little as one quarter of the cost of operating conventional heating or cooling appliances. Heat pumps are typically used to pull heat out of the air to heat a home, but they can be reversed to cool a home too. In a way, if you know how an air
conditioner works, then you already know a lot about how a heat pump works. This is because heat pumps and air conditioners operate in a very similar way. The most efficient heat pump options feature two stages of operation. For most two-stage designs, the heat pump will primarily operate on a “low” setting, which can keep the home comfortable while reducing energy consumption. When it’s necessary, the system will then kick into a “high” setting, but it reserves this for peak weather conditions like hot summer days or cold nights.
Another comsideration that that heat pumps work efficiently year-round. One investment can help you reduce your heating and cooling bills. They also are more environmentally friendly. Heat pumps can create oneand-a-half to three times more heat energy than they consume.
Optional: installation or cashback coupon

SMART HOME
Regular maintenance of your heating and cooling system is generally about $100 that can save you thousands on the long run.
CATCH PROBLEMS EARLY You won’t think about going two or three years without having maintenance on your car. Well, your HVAC system is a mechanical system that also needs regular attention.
Semi-Annual Maintenance Ruud HVAC contractors offer important seasonal HVAC tune-ups. In southern states it may be another check of your A/C system, while in the north, a furnace inspection is a must before a long, cold winter. There are many different types of heating
and cooling systems and each one has different needs. However, there are some basic inspections and tests that should be done twice annually no matter what type of system you have.
• Make sure the technician first checks your indoor air filters to ensure proper air flow (this is the most common problem for heating and cooling issues)
Write a list of any problems, strange noises or general questions. It’s easy to forget issues when you’re talking with your service technician.
• The system should be run through its full cycle and power on and off
Other tips to get the most out of your inspection:
• They should check the connections and duct work for leaks
• Air flow and temperature should be measured
• If you have an inside unit, make sure nothing is blocking the air intake • Connections and wiring should be checked on electric heaters Dirty and clogged filters are one of the main reasons your HVAC system works harder to heat or cool your home, putting greater strain on the motor and contributing to breakdowns.
Optional: cashback or local maintenance coupon
