Requirements.-To obtain a third grade certificate in this state. the applicant must pass an examination in reading, grammar, penman­ ship and punctuation, history of the United States, geography, arith­ Uletic, orthography, and Washington State Manual. Appllcants for a second grade certificate must have credits in the same suhjects as for a third grade certificate, and must also take an examination In music. To obtain a first grade eertificate, applicants must have taught at least nine months, and must have credits in the same suhjects as for a seeond grade eertificate, and also in physics, English literature, alge­

bra, and physieal geography.

Graduation.-To graduate from this course, a student must pass �t state examination in all the

By the term Keyboard Hacmony i s meant the practical working out of harmonic principle a t the instrument instead of only o n paper, as is usual in the study of harmony. This
