Nice Going Feµas Prior to Halloween this column carried .a challenge to the youngsters who turned over the bus stop at corner of Parlt Avenue and Sales Road, We appealed to the young boys to go back and set the covered shed back in its proper place so ·that kind old ladies and mothers with their young babies wouldn't have to wait in the .rain for the bt1s to come along. Last week one night, a young lad came by' and told us that the boys went bad:: and put the shed where it belonged. We admire the spirit of these boys; we appreciate their attitude. This writer joins the. many bus passe1igers who .board the bus at that point and uEe the .shed for a waiting place in saying thanks to these boys. vVe figured that down deep you were a ·bunch of swell fellows. When next Halloween rolls around, let's leave the shed alone. vVhat .do you say, fellas? Wanted: A Good Home "I have one•· mother long~ haired cat and four kittens three months old. Who Will PJay in Bowl Games?

Who'll go to the bowl games on January 1? The country's bowl magnates have begwi to filter out the nation's outstanding elevens for the New Year's Day classics. Quite a few "eligible" teams are available, which makes it rather difficult to predict as to vtho will go where on New Year's Day. .Much will depend on what Army and Na\'y, the two best clubs in the nation, will do to an offered invitation. Either club can have any bid they went. But we personally feel that they will turn down thumbs to any bid. Considering the situation from that viewpoint, it is our prediction that the bowl games will line up in the following fashion:

Pacific Lutheran College cagers, playing· their first league season since war killed the sport two years ago, open the 1945-46 basketball season on December 14. They play host to the Everett Junior Co•llege quintet. Tlie game, lo be played on the Parkland Junior high school floor, will begin ii t 8 p. 111. The E\'crctt game is among a large number of games Marv Harshman, the former P.L.C. ace who now is handling· the coaching chores, is booki11g as practice tilts to get his cagers in shape for the opening contest of the Winko loop on January 10. Coach Harshman has been drilling his boys daily for the past three weeks. Lack of reserve strength and experienced players is not making things any Ill easier for the new mentor, who in bis playing days became known as one of the best ever to perform for P.L.C. Sparkplng o'1 the Lutheran five is Ernie Perrault. Ernie, who received his discharg·e from army two months ag·o, played for the Lutes when they had a strong ball club. A smooth ball handler, Ernie, too, can hit the basket with great accuracy. His presence on the team is sure to save Coach Harsh man plenty of headaches. At the same time, Coach Harshman announced he has several boys who are due to enroll at P.L.C. next semester. Their presence on club roster will give .the Lutes adequate reserve strength and maybe a little height, one weakness on the P,L.C. club. Other basketeers working on the first string and who are sure to get starting nods include Engene Harkness and Jim Rediske, forwards; Glenn N ea!, center; and Bob Hauge, guard. The Winko schedule is as follows: January IO-Bellingham here January 11-Bdlingham here January li-PLC at Bellingham January 18--PLC at Bellingham January 25-Ellensburg here January 26--Ellcnsburg he·re February 1-P LC at · Seattle College February 2-P L C at Seattle College February 8-Cheney here February 9-Cheney here February 22-PLC at Ellensburg February 23-PLC at Ellensburg J7ebruary 25-PLC at Cheney Febrnary 26-PLC at Chei1cy March 8-S eat t 1 e College here 9-S e at t l c College March here In the above schedule, Western \Nashington College of Education is referred to as Bellingham; Central \Vashington College of Education as Ellensburg; and Eastern vVashingtcrn College of Education as Cheney.

Identical army careers of two Medical Traintlng soldiers at Fort Lewis-Sgts. Daniel F. Ring and Gerard E. Huitink-have come to a logical conclusion. They are both from Chicago, were born on the same day, inducted tOlgether, took basic in the same company, have serial numbers in which the first five numbers are identical, and have one child each. Last week the two platoon sergeants were discharged at Ft. Lewis and headed back to · Chicago-where they . will live, only two blocks apart.
