elevation society SPRING 2021

Dear Elevation Society Member, The vibrant colors of the Napa Valley are showing off with the much-anticipated mustard flowers that are blanketing the valley flo . After the winter rains and the start of the warm and sunny weather, the robust vegetation is beginning to come to life. As we say goodbye to winter and prepare for spring, we take this opportunity to acknowledge the labor of love that goes into every vintage. From the farming crews who take great care of the land and the vineyards, to the winery teams that focus on every meticulous step in the winemaking and aging process to ensure quality and consistency in every vintage. We remain committed to the highest standards of winemaking, even during a global pandemic. We are truly excited for this year’s release of the 2018 Vintage and even more excited to get the wine on the tables and in the cellars of our society members. Remember to tag us if you share photos of our wines on social media, so we can share the love with our community. It brings us great joy to see our members enjoying our wine. Finally, please allow me to extend our appreciation for your patience and collaboration while we experienced major shipping delays across the country due to the recent severe weather conditions across the country. Thank you for your loyalty and continued support of our Napa Wineries.

The CADE Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from five vineyards on Howell Mountain including the CADE Estate Vineyard, 13th Vineyard, Ink Grade Vineyard, Cold Springs, and Eagle Summit. The bountiful 2018 vintage started on September 26th, with fruit from the Ink Grade Vineyard and finished o November 9th with fruit from 13th Vineyard. The wine received 19 months barrel aging in 100% French oak (67% new). Malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel immediately after primary fermentation. The wine was racked quarterly once malolactic fermentation was complete.

WINEMAKER IMPRESSIONS

The 2018 vintage was on the cooler side, a little later than normal, and very abundant! We crushed, fermented, barrel aged, and bottled the most Estate Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon ever! We thought we might run out of room in the cellar, every tank and barrel was full and we were overflowin with barrels in the cave. The resulting wine is fantastic with aromas of blueberry, boysenberry, raspberry coolie, roasted coffee, baking spices, and rose petal. The wine has flavors of mulberry jam dark cherry, cola, graham cracker, caramel, and boysenberry pie. The structure and tannin of this wine are classic Howell Mountain. BY THE NUMBERS BOTTLE
