Dear Elevation Society Member, As you read this letter, the final scheduled pick-ups of the 2021 vintage are arriving in our wineries. The atmosphere at the PlumpJack Collection of Wineries is alive with excitement as Aaron Miller, Danielle Cyrot and Jeff Owens, our head winemakers, report on the laborious efforts of the harvest teams. Traditionally, the end of harvest is the most celebrated time in agricultural regions around the world; and for us in the Napa Valley, it’s also a reason to feel a bit more at ease as the last of the grapes safely make their way into fermentation tanks. As harvest comes to a close, our winemaking teams will continue to work round the clock as the fermentation process begins. Pumpovers, which extract color and add tannic structure to the juices, continue through the night, while fermentation tanks require constant supervision until the winemaker determines the wines are ready to be transferred to the French Oak barrels to complete the aging process. We look forward to sharing what’s already being speculated as an exemplary vintage of Napa Valley with you. As our 2018 Estate Cabernet Sauvignons continue to sell out, now begins the planning of the release of new vintages. Stay tuned for exclusive first access to these wines. CADE Estate is situated on a 54 acre property with 21 acres planted to vines. Located in the heart of Howell Mountain, our CADE Reserve vineyards sit at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 1,850 feet and is planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. The 2018 vintage also features fruit from our recently acquired 82 acre property on Howell Mountain, 13th Vineyard. Fruit was harvested from October 5th through November 1st and was the largest vintage on record for CADE. 98 POINTS, JEB DUNNUCK
WINEMAKER IMPRESSIONS
The 2018 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla bean, graham cracker, and black currant. In the palate are flavors of boysenberry, raspberry coolie, chocolate covered espresso beans, brown spices, and red cherry. The tannins are structured and elegant. The density and mouthfeel of this wine really showcase the silky sumptuous full-bodied nature of this wine that is Howell Mountain. The 2018 vintage was bountiful and the resulting wine is full of great fruit, mouthwatering texture, and lots of spice. BY THE NUMBERS BOTTLE
