Dear Falstaff Society Member, The 2021 Harvest is now complete, and the winemakers from our Estate Wineries are very optimistic with the quality of the fruit received this year. As we just released to you the 2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from PlumpJack and Odette, we want to remind you that we won’t be having a 2020 (red wine) vintage so this would be a great time for you to strategize on your upcoming purchases from your favorite wines from PlumpJack, CADE and Odette. As a priority Membership Society member, we always ship the new releases directly to you and you are always welcome to let us know if you require any changes or modifications to your wine orders. Please keep in mind that our current inventory is very limited, and we are not able to offer full customization in all shipments. Nevertheless, we will do our best to accommodate your preferences with our available wines. Also remember, as an active member, you have access to our limited Library selections, please call us for a full list of Library listings. We are now getting ready for the Holiday Season in Napa Valley and excited with the planning for Thanksgiving celebrations! Many of our members and friends are calling us for recommendations for wines to pair with your traditional Thanksgiving dishes. We are here to assist you and would love to chat with you about any of your upcoming wine needs. Remember that nothing makes a celebration more fun that a large format bottle! A Magnum can easily be shared with a party of 4 to 6 guests or a Jeroboam bottle (my personal favorite) will make a larger gathering an event full of excitement with anticipation! A Jeroboam is just four regular bottles (750ml) of wine. Always be mindful of your guest’s wine needs and remember to have the most fun when sharing one of our special wines with your friends and family. Now, more than ever, they deserve all of your love and attention. Thank you for allowing us to do what we love most and for your continuous support to our Wineries in the Napa Valley. Near record rainfall. Late budbreak. Late bloom. Late veraison. Late ripening. For the second consecutive vintage, the key to the vintage was patience. The vines emerged from their dormancy later than is typical and they reached all their milestones later as well. As in 2018, it seemed the grapes would never ripen. So, we waited. Then, in early October, everything began to change. The flavors in the grapes grew deeper and richer, the skins began to grow thinner, the tannin became less astringent, and the color of the grapes was more easily extracted from the skins. Our patience paid off and the resulting wines are stunning.
WINEMAKER IMPRESSIONS
The nose of the 2019 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon bursts with juicy fruits – blackberry, dark plum, boysenberry, and muddled raspberries. These fruit aromas mingle with notes of cardamom, cinnamon, molasses, damp earth, iron, and sage. The palate has a gorgeous, silky entry also expressing notes of blackberry, plum, spice, molasses, and sage. The wine is beautifully structured with finely integrated, velvety tannin, and finishes exceptionally long.
