CHILD STUDENT VISA INFORMATION www.plymouthcollege.com
A WARM WELCOME FROM THE ADMISSIONS TEAM As a proud internationally minded school, international students at Plymouth College have a thoroughly enriching experience and are integrated into school life with a wealth of opportunities, a sense of collective purpose, shared fun and mutual respect. With more than 30 different nationalities, Plymouth College is truly international, bringing real energy and diversity to our community. We are excited that you are joining the Plymouth College Family and hope this handbook will give guidance through the process of applying for a Child Student Visa. Part one This section is specifically for student visa applicants from EU countries, Switzerland and nationalities that do not need to show financial evidence. Part two The s econd section is specifically for student visa applicants from countries outside the EU. We have also included check lists of information required by the School in order for us to provide you with a CAS Form (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) and a checklist for what is required when you apply for the visa. Information regarding NHS surcharge has also been included. Important things to note... The Child Student Visa will last the duration of the course at Plymouth College. Once we are in receipt of all the documentation we will send the CAS Form and accompanying letter which you can use to make your application. It is important that you submit the exact same documentation that you have shared with the school at the time of application; this is to ensure that you don’t risk being ‘Refused’ application. Refusal of an application can jeopardise the School’s Sponsorship licence which is why we are so careful in ensuring the paperwork submitted will satisfy the Home Office; as well as a further application on your part. We will give you a deadline date for receipt of your information to allow time for processing the paperwork and create the CAS document to give you plenty of time to make the application your end.
If you are at any point unsure, please do get in touch and we will be happy to talk you through the application process. Phil, Fiona, Heidi & Daisy The Admissions Team Email - admissions@plymouthcollege.com Tel - 01752 505120

Immigration Health Surcharge CHILD STUDENT VISA ONLY (NOT FOR 1 TERM STUDENTS) When applying for a Child Student visa for the UK an IHS fee is required to be paid as part of the visa application submission. This fee allows the applicant full access to the UK National Health Service (‘NHS’) during their studies. This fee is confirmed as a £470 per visa year. However, despite the term dates inserted onto a CAS sponsorship document, an additional two or four months is added onto the duration of sponsorship upon the visa being approved. This additional period is issued automatically and is not optional. This will distort the calculation of the IHS fee despite the sponsorship document only being for a set period. When calculating the IHS fee required, the UKVI charge an additional 50% fee for each additional 6-month increment incurred as a result of the full visa duration. Example 1 – Child Student visa (more than 12 months study) Course start date 08 September 2023 Course end date 08 July 2025 Total study length 22 months Total visa duration 26 months (22 months, plus 4 months wrap up period) IHS calculation 24 months £940 (2 x £470) +PLUS+ 2 months £235 (50% charge for each additional 6-month increment) Total IHS payment £1175
Example 2 – Child Student visa (less than 12 months study) Course start date 08 September 2023 Course end date 08 August 2024 Total study length 11 months Total visa duration 13 months (11 months, plus 2 months wrap up period) IHS calculation 12 months £470 +PLUS+ 1 month £235 (50% charge for each additional 6-month increment) Total IHS payment £705
Child Student Visa Record Compliance UKVI requires that detailed records are kept by the sponsor for each child while in the UK for visa compliance. Each time your child enters/exits the UK, a copy of the e-ticket and boarding pass needs to be provided to the boarding administrator, as well as any overnight stay away from school details ( address, host, contact details) and travel arrangements) It is your responsibility to let the boarding administrator know of any change in circumstances as these will need to be reported to UKVI for visa compliance.
