
Success for a student taking senior secondary courses depends on their ability in Years 7 to 10 to maximise their learning opportunities through active participation in all of their classes. Students whose habits have embedded acting on feedback to close the gaps in their learning, guided by a commitment to using their Success Criteria in lessons are most likely to achieve success
Generally, for success in Year 11 a student in:
• Year 10 Advanced MESH subjects should be able to access any ATAR, General or Certificate course.
• Year 10 Standard 1 or 2 MESH subjects should be able to access any ATAR, General or Certificate course.
• Year 10 Standard 3 MESH subjects should be able to access any General or Certificate course.
• Year 10 Essentials MESH subjects should be able to access any General or Certificate course.

Strong performance in Year 10 is the foundation for achieving success in Year 11.
The School is committed to ensuring that all students achieve personal excellence in all areas of endeavour. It is vital to guide students into a choice of courses which allows them to work to their strengths, challenge but not exceed their capacity, and equip them with the qualifications they need to pursue their careers and ambitions after they leave the School.
The following pages and accompanying links provide clear information regarding the content of each Year 11 course, the types of assessment applied, the attributes required for a success in that course and any formal prerequisites. All current Year 10 students have had the benefit of presentations from Tertiary Institutions, Heads of Department, and subject teachers on the courses offered in Year 11.
Counselling occurs for all Year 10 students and parents about the process from many personnel in the Secondary School including the Dean Teaching & Learning, the Careers and Vocational Education Coordinator, Heads of Department and teachers. The student’s Head of Year also provides additional counselling interviews to discuss proposed course selection, as required.
In selecting Courses and Pathways students should: Seek advice from as many people as possible, such as teachers and parents. Seriously consider recommendations based on experience.
Consider university entry requirements, noting the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre website (TISC) website www.tisc.edu.au. Check the website forAustralian TertiaryAdmission Ranking (ATAR) cut-offs for entry into the public universities in Western Australia.
Review Tertiary And Further Education (TAFE) entry requirements, especially taking note of the Selection Criteria. Consider which prerequisites apply to any further studies under investigation.
Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses demonstrated in the student’s current studies, confirming that the selected pathway chosen matches their desired goals, abilities and interests.
Review past School reports and teacher recommendations for guidance.

VET Pathways
The Flexible Pathway is a specialised Pathway designed to prepare students for a trade or employment in many related occupations. The General and Certificate courses on offer within this pathway have a significant focus on both theory and practical skills related to employment enabling students to achieve their WACE across Year 11 and 12. This Flexible pathway equips students with skills and broad capabilities that will adequately prepare them for employment, trade, or an apprenticeship.
Students will complete Year 12 fully prepared and confident in their ability to cope in real-life scenarios and realistic workplace settings. With the support and guidance of their classroom teachers, their experience in partnership through CareerLink as well as continuing to develop their literacy and numeracy skills for the workforce, students will leave PMACS confident, competent and workplace ready.

Edith Cowan University – UniPrep Schools
The School has maintained strong links with Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Joondalup as a Foundation School in delivering UniPrep. This sees the delivery of the university’s bridging
course, UniPrep in Schools program in Year 12 for recommended students on a General Pathway.
The one-year SCSA endorsed program is designed to complement students’ current WACE academic endeavours, while providing authentic experiences of university. It allows students to bridge secondary school by equipping them with transferrable career development skills and enhancing their academic skills, while integrating an authentic university experience.
The program commences during Term 4 in Year 11 to students who have been accepted as most likely to achieve success in this rigorous course. The timing coincides with the conclusion of Year 11 Unit 2.

ASC International
ASC International delivers programs across Anglican Schools Commission schools, within a virtual classroom environment. It provides students with the opportunity to engage in ATAR courses not currently available at an ASC School. Students gain course recognition from SCSA and credit towards their WACE.
