In the weekly construction of the timetable students continue with the familiarity of compulsory Mathematics, English, Science and Humanities (MESH) lessons, each with four Periods, two Periods for Health and Physical Education (HPE) and one Period for Christianity, Religion and Life (CRL)
Streamed Classes
All MESH classes are streamed according to achievement and progress from the previous academic year. The process of streaming students into Advance, Standard and Essential classes is based on class teacher and Heads of Department detailed knowledge of each student’s ability and aptitude.
Streamed classes has a positive correlation with the most likely successful achievement of a student in their Year 11 and Year 12 courses.
The School understands that over time, students desire and temperament may change and there are times in the academic year where movement from one stream to another can occur. This is done in consultation with class teacher, Head of Department and parent, and usually based on an assessment of the student’s current achievement compared to their class cohort.
Class lists are formed based on student ranking in each course and informed teacher and Head of Department knowledge of each student’s academic progress in the previous academic year.
In Year 10, streaming includes the additional data gained from the Year 9 Term 3 examination.
