Gunmen kill 10 in Adamawa church attack From Umar Dankano, Yola

unmen yesterday launched an attack on Jilang village of Maiha local government area of Adamawa state, killing 10 persons while 12 others were seriously injured. An eyewitness who spoke to Peoples Daily in Yola said that the gunmen stormed the EYN Church at about 11am. “The gunmen entered the church while the sermon was on and started shooting at the people,” a member of the church said, noting that he escaped death by the whiskers when the gunmen who drove into the church premises in two Toyota Hilux vans, attacked the congregation. According to the source, “after the gunmen left, we counted 10 dead bodies and 12 persons sustained various degrees of injuries. “Since I was born, I have not come face to face with death like this one. Blood was everywhere.” Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) at the Adamawa state Command, DSP Ibrahim Mohammed, said however that only four persons were killed in the church attack while six others Contd on Page 2
