Shettima Monguno regains freedom No ransom paid, says Gov Shettima

fter spending the fourth day in captivity, the abductors of elder statesman and Nigeria’s pioneer Minister of Petroleum Resources, Dr.Shettima Ali Monguno, set him free yesterday morning. Shettima was kidnapped by unknown gunmen last Friday at about 2 pm, after performing the Juma’at prayers at the Mafoni ward of Maiduguri metropolis. Thousands of sympathizers defied the heavy security mounted within and outside Monguno’s home as they thronged the compound to catch a glimpse of the elder statesman yesterday. Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft on a non-combatant mission crashed yesterday at Dargol village at about 1305hours (1.05pm), according to a statement by the Director of Defence Information (DDI), Brig-Gen Chris Olukolade. According to the statement, the jet crashed 60 kilometres West of Niamey, killing the two pilots on board.
