Militia kills 23 policemen in Nasarawa – Al-Makura From Ali Abare Abubakar, Lafia
N
asarawa State Governor, Umar Tanko al-Makura has confirmed the killing of over 23 policemen Tuesday by cultists known as the Ombatse
militia group at Alakio village, about 10 km from Lafia, the state capital. The deceased met their untimely deaths as they went about their lawful duty of dislodging the group that has
besieged the state for long, trying to destabilize the government. Ombatse in Eggon language means 'time has come', which insinuates, an official of the state explained, that the group is causing commotion and
insecurity in order to upstage the government. Al-Makura, who was at the State House in Abuja to brief Vice President Muhammad Namadi Sambo on the menace of the group and seek the assistance of the
federal government, told correspondents that the state government had a year ago dislodged the group, but they resurfaced about a fortnight ago, unleashing more mayhem. Contd on Page 2
