Nigeria still a military state, says Fashola
L
R-L: Nasarawa state Governor, Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-MAkura, presenting letter of appointment to the new Secretary to State Government, Hajiya Zainab Abdulmumin, yesterday at the Government House, in Lafia.
agos state governor, Babatunde Fashola, yesterday said the frequent disregard and flouting of civil laws by military personnel showed that Nigeria has not been fully demilitarized. Fashola said this while receiving Maj-Gen. Abel Umahi, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division of the Nigerian Army in his office in Ikeja. Supreme Court is situated while anti-riot police squads manned the various courts. The decision of the workers to embark on the strike action followed the expiration of the 21day ultimatum which the union had earlier issued. National President of JUSUN, Marwan Mustapha Adamu, told journalists that the union decided to embark on the strike action due to the insensitivity of the Federal Government to the plight of Judiciary workers at the federal
courts. He said the agreement for the implementation of the Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure for Judiciary workers between the Federal Government and the union was reached in 2009 and that government has refused to issue circular for the payment of the salary structure. As result, Adamu said, the payment of N37,000 minimum wage for federal judiciary workers could not be effected noting that Contd on Page 2
