Tukur, Gana on war path Court decides chairman’s fate July 25 By Lawrence Olaoye and Benjamin Ejike
T
he bubble of the brewing crisis of confidence between the National Chairman of
the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and the Chairman of the party’s Special Convention Committee, Professor Jerry Gana, finally burst yesterday as the National Working Committee
(NWC) of the party ordered a halt to all activities relating to the proposed August convention. The Gana led committee was set up at the party’s National Executive
Committee (NEC) meeting held in June with a mandate to conduct congresses in the South-West zone and at the national level to elect officials that would fill vacant positions, both in the zone
and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC). It would be recalled that some members of the NWC resigned their positions at the PDP’s June Contd. on Page 2
