By Tobias Lengnan Dapam, Umar Muhammad Puma, Adeola Tukuru and Abbas Bamali
W
omen under the auspices of Nigerian Council of Women Society (NCWS) yesterday shut down the nation’s capital, Abuja, making vehicular movements difficult with its attendant unease for the city’s residents, to “celebrate President Goodluck Jonathan”. Although the theme of the rally was tagged ‘Celebration of Nigerian Women for Peace and Empowerment”, it was apparently a grand mobilisation of the womenfolk in tacit support of the yet-to-be announced 2015 presidential ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan. The event literally shut down the entire city and crippled business activities were following the blockage of various routes in and around Abuja by security operatives. For instance, various roads linking the Central Business District as well as Federal Secretariat from the popular Julius Berger and Area One roundabouts were blocked for Contd. on Page 2
