G
overnor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has offered an all-round scholarship to 50 children whose parents were killed by Boko Haram insurgents at various locations in Maiduguri metropolis. Shettima stated this while hosting the orphans to a Ramadan breaking of fast at the Government House, on Tuesday night. He explained that the scholarships would cut across orphans from both Muslim and Christian backgrounds, even as he promised to also host Christian orphans. Shettima told the guests that they should regard him as their father and that he will do everything within his powers as state governor to ensure that they remain comfortable and they do not encounter problems in their education. The governor called on the orphans to take education very seriously and be of good behaviour so that they would excel in life. Contd. on Page 2
