nknown gunmen yesterday launched attacks on the police in Kajuru and Nungu villages in Kaduna state, killing three cops and a civilian.

According to our correspondent, two policemen were killed in the attack in Kajuru, with an unspecified number of people who sustained injuries, while a
policeman and a civilian were killed in the incident in Nungu, in Sanga local government area of the state. Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna state who visited
the Divisional Police headquarters in Kajuru after the incident, condemned that attacks and vowed to “tackle the activities of criminals, who are bent on creating tension in the state. “This ugly trend has to stop and we are committed to bringing

he Federal Government may have yielded to the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday directed the two government committees negotiating with the lecturers to take immediate steps to end the ongoing strike. This development came on the heels of a call by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the government to honour its commitment to the university lecturers, to ensure a speedy end to the lingering crisis in the nation’s education sector. Chairman of the Universities Needs Implementation Committee, Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue state, announced the presidential directive after a closed-door meeting of the two committees and other stakeholders with President Jonathan at the State House, yesterday in Abuja.
